Description: The Director of Construction leads the Field Operations and works in partnership with our Project Management team to build safe, high-quality, on-schedule, profitable projects throughout their region. The Director of Construction role is key to fostering great client relations and developing our employees. CS Energy project sites are located nationally, and the Director of Construction must be open to travel and working 75-100% at our project sites. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Passionately builds the team by attracting, interviewing, assessing, mentoring, and retaining Top Performers. Develops career paths for Foreman, Superintendents, and General Superintendents with relation to training and career plans to advance internally; reviews employee performance and assignments on an as-needed basis. Provides on-site leadership for the project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones. Leads and enforces the safety policies and procedures and addresses non-compliance among all employees, subcontractors, and vendors. Leads and enforces the Quality Management System; recognizes any potential patterns of rework and develops solutions to eliminate it. Performs or oversees fundamental project management practices such as construction progress tracking, progress & financial forecasting, document management, problem solving, dispute resolution, design troubleshooting, and value engineering. Leads the development of the project schedule with the Project Manager and ensures the team is executing to the plan; develops a derivative four-week lookahead schedule that facilitates the project’s daily progress, communicates it to all, and balances resources to ensure the schedule is met. Summarizes region status for regional executive managers who report to the board of directors on a weekly/monthly basis. Works labor strategies for the region, including maintaining dialogue with union leaders to maximize efficiency and margin. Works to beat the project cost budget; implements effective cost controls over subcontractors, material, equipment, and other related expenditures. Ensures the Project Team is trained on planning, surveying, plan reading, productivity, efficiency, economical crew size, quality workmanship, and safety to ensure projects are constructed expeditiously and profitably. Utilizes daily huddles to promote communication, resolve issues, and share ideas, so the projects are constructed expeditiously and profitably. Knows the key terms and conditions of the Prime Contract with the Owner; identifies and communicates deviations accordingly. Knows the key operational details of the subcontract and holds the subcontractors accountable to their agreement and the company's standards. Contributes to project estimates as needed throughout the entire lifecycle of the region's projects. This position is field-based and includes traversing between our project construction sites. Requirements: 10 years of relevant construction industry experience, with progressively greater responsibility. 10 years overseeing self-perform work with several crews across various projects totaling 150 craft persons and equipment operators or more; prior experience as a Foreman and/or Master Electrical License is a plus. Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to lead a diverse group of individuals. Successfully led relatively complex construction projects with diverse scopes and aggressive schedules. Superb customer service skills. Robust knowledge of various areas of construction (electrical, earthwork, utilities, structures, mechanical, etc.). Expert knowledge of OSHA Safety regulations. Excellent teamwork, communication, leadership, people skills, and solid time management skills are a must. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and scheduling software. A reasonable estimate of the range for this role is $160,000.00 - $180,000.00. Starting rate of pay may vary based on various factors, including, but not limited to an individual's experience and expertise. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to CS Energy’s discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
