Your OpportunityHerrera is looking for a candidate with an interest in working on complex projects with a goal of improving the environment and solving problems for our industrial clients. This opportunity will require you to be part of a collaborative team resolving issues at industrial sites and identifying solutions for mine, solid waste, and contaminated sites. This position will provide for work on a range of engineering and environmental projects for public and private clients. The successful candidate will work closely with our staff in Washington, Wyoming, Montana, and Oregon.
As a Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer we will count on you to be a seller/doer, manage projects, and execute work for design and engineering related tasks. Your anticipated responsibilities include the following:
- Plan and design of solid waste infrastructure facilities (landfills, recycling, and transfer stations) and mine reclamation sites.
- Plan and design of mine reclamation sites.
- Prepare written reports and design documents.
- Provide engineering services during bidding and construction.
- Interact with clients, contractors, and other consultants.
- Provide project consulting support working on multi-disciplinary, complex project teams.
- Maintain an active role and visibility within local, regional, and national professional associations and organizations.
- Provide construction oversight and environmental monitoring.
- Conduct research and data collection.
- Assess restoration and environmental impacts.
- Have knowledge of CERCLA and RCRA compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation, Experience, & Licensure/Certifications- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering
- Experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft programs
- A current PE in Washington or ability to obtain one within 1 year
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities- Business development acumen in the Western United States
- Experience developing scopes of work and budgets for design work
- Construction management and inspection experience working on civil projects
- Experience on mine, hazardous material, solid waste, and/or industrial sites
- Dedication to health and safety practices when working in the field
- Experience preparing design plans, engineering design reports, construction specifications, and construction cost estimates
- Collaborator and team builder with capacity to work with staff from diverse technical disciplines
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Familiar with sampling and analysis of soil, surface water, groundwater, and waste materials
- Experience with preparing Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Studies or utilizing the data and recommendations in these documents
- Experience interacting with clients, contractors, and teaming partners
- Experience with or familiarity with outputs from AutoCAD/Civil3D/Carlson Natural Regrade
- Experience with conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments or using the information presented in these types of documents

- Salary is determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to years of experience, type/relevance of experience, skillset, and fit for the role
