Sensaria Environmental Health & Safety Manager (EHS)
Job Overview: The EHS Manager will develop and implement environmental, health and safety programs for our manufacturing sites to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:EMPLOYEE TRAINING: - Lead as the EH&S Training Manager for the facility
- Develop/validate/administer with assistance of VSMs operators training and certification program.
Environmental, Health and Safety: - Prepare and submit required environmental regulatory reports including California Environmental Reporting System (CERS), stormwater no exposure certifications, chemical inventory reports, biennial hazardous waste reports.
- Manage photochemical processing waste from photographic printing at Bay Photo sites to ensure wastewater discharge monitoring and compliance.
- Manage the storm water program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including no exposure certifications, periodic audits and regulatory reporting.
- Manage and update Safety Station information.
- Develop and manage environmental, health and safety programs for our manufacturing sites to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. These programs include but are not limited to injury/illness recordkeeping, personal protective equipment, LOTO, Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Forklift Safety, Fleet Safety and Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Provide support, guidance, and recommendations to management on EH&S requirements and safe work practices.
- Develop and maintain EH&S standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and communicate requirements to affected personnel.
- Maintain site emergency preparedness procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Coordinate the personal protective equipment program including hazard assessments.
- Coordinate the implementation of new container labeling and safety data sheet maintenance per the new Hazard Communication Standard Global Harmonization requirements.
- Manage, develop, coordinate, and conduct environmental, health and safety training programs including new employee orientation, LOTO, forklift safety training, back safety training, personal protective equipment training, hazard communication, hearing conservation training, First Aid, CPR/AED and other required EH&S training.
- Manage the safety incident programs at the sites including safety incident investigations, root cause analysis and the identification of preventative and corrective action measures.
- Communicate corrective action recommendations to management and track implementation.
- Manage implementation of new equipment hazard reviews and EH&S assessments to identify hazards and work closely with site engineering on corrective and preventative action implementation.
- Manage the machine safeguarding program and work closely with site engineers to implement machine safeguarding improvements.
- Manage the personal protective equipment program including hazard assessments and the safety shoe and prescription safety glass programs.
- Manage the Hearing Conservation Program including baseline and audiograms. Review results for OSHA recordkeeping purposes and communicate to affected employees.
- Develop and manage site ergonomic and back safety programs. Provide equipment/workstation design input, work with management to create rotation schedules and stretching programs where appropriate and identify improvements.
- Manage and create secondary container labels and review and maintain safety data sheets per the Hazard Communication Standard Global Harmonization requirements.
- Conduct internal environmental, health & safety audits to ensure conformance with regulations, policies and procedures. Summarize and audit report findings and provide recommendations to site management for corrective actions. Follow-up and track corrective action implementation.
- Manage Site Safety Committee and communicate minutes to site management.
- Manage site air quality programs by calculating site air emissions on a regular basis and notifying management of any permitting requirements.
- Manage the hazardous waste, and nonhazardous waste program to ensure regulatory compliance. Prepare waste profiles, help coordinate waste pickups and ensure proper recordkeeping.
- Support implementation of new equipment hazard reviews and EH&S assessments to identify hazards and work closely with site engineering on corrective and preventative action implementation.
- Promptly respond to employee safety concerns in coordination with HR and the VP of OPS.
PERFORMANCE TO METRICS: - Work to improve site DART Rates.
- Update Daily Performance Status Board
CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: - Learn, Participate, and lead Lean activities including Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen events, Daily GEMBA walks, and Job Relations growth.
- Support 5S and housekeeping improvement activities.
- Create Work Instructions, Training Documents, Visual Aids necessary to ensure best practice operation based on Printer Industry and Equipment research.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field or equivalent
- CalOSHA and CalEPA experience required
- EHS experience in California
- Two or more years' experience in EHS in a manufacturing setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICIATIONS:- 5 + yrs experience in managing & leading teams
- 2 to 5 years' experience in EHS
- Ability to work in a demanding environment.
- Strong communicative and analytical skills,
- Experience using Office 365
- Detail Oriented with Strong Organization and Planning skills.
- Bi-Lingual skills in Spanish are a plus but not required.
- Understanding of and Dedication to Lean Continuous Improvement and 5S/6S.
