Tetra Tech is adding an On-Call Biologist to join our team focused on biological surveys, environmental compliance, and permitting. In this role, you will assist with numerous renewable energy projects throughout the state, including habitat assessment surveys, protocol level surveys, and environmental compliance.
The successful On-Call Biologist will be equipped with a strong background in ecology and biological surveys, technical writing, and possess excellent time management skills.

Your Role:
• Conduct wildlife and vegetation baseline studies (including protocol surveys), nesting bird surveys, and general habitat assessments.
• Collect field data, record, and identify fauna and flora with a focus on Central Valley and Mojave species.
• Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, GPS units, and other maps and tools to determine exact locations of project areas, habitat types, and associated landforms.
• Photograph and take detailed notes of habitats, species, and landforms.
• Communicate effectively with Tetra Tech project managers, task leads, and other biologists to complete the field work and reporting requirements.
• Understand project environmental requirements and the applicable laws and regulations protecting biological resources.
• Complete desktop analyses, web-based database queries, prepare technical reports describing the methods, results, recommendations, and regulatory background for projects.
• Assist or lead preparation of regulatory agency permit applications.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Conservation Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience in wildlife biology, with a focus on biological surveys, and endangered species. Experience with Central Valley and Mojave species is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding endangered species and habitats.
• Willingness to conduct fieldwork in various habitats and under challenging environmental conditions.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
