DescriptionWe are currently seeking a full-time
Environmental Engineer. Our team works with communities on a wide range of civil, municipal, and environmental projects. We are looking for a professional who would work with Telecom OSP Engineers, CAD Technicians, Permit, and ROW Agents in various capacities.
A successful candidate will have strong technical writing skills and experience in various aspects of environmental projects, particularly in the preparation of environmental reports documenting site investigations, remediation, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in business development, including initiating client contacts and preparing project proposals, and attending board or council meetings.
- Collaborate with a team of natural and cultural resources specialists to fulfill a variety of environmental planning and permitting needs for various projects.
- Collaborate with management and engineering to create clear communication and project support.
- Oversee and direct all aspects of environmental permitting related to Clean Water Act (CWA) sections 401 (water quality certification) as well as the U.S. Endangered Species Act and other state and local laws and regulations.
- Prepare plans and specifications for specific projects.
- Prepare detailed technical compliance/resource inventory reports, environmental permitting support, and other documents.
- Support general natural resources tasks, including general biological surveys as well as preparation of environmental assessments, biological reports, and biological evaluation documentation.
- Work with field staff to ensure consistency and accuracy in final reports/deliverables.
- Direct agency and client coordination regarding wetlands, rare species, compliance monitoring programs, and building trusted relationships with the responsible agencies and stakeholders.
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseRequirements- Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering (Master's degree preferred).
- Or BS/Masters in a scientific discipline (e.g., wildlife and fisheries sciences, wetland science, wildlife biology, environmental science, ecology, or another related field.)
- Previous experience with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations in the northeast United States.
- Five (5) years of environmental engineering design experience. (Mid- to senior-level environmental professional).
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Proficient in technical writing and analytical skills.
Preferred- At least one (1) year of natural resources (or related) project management experience, including developing and implementing budgets, scopes of work, and project schedules
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in natural resources and demonstrated technical writing with an emphasis on environmental consulting.
- Professional certifications, including PWS, CWB, CERP, NHCWS, CESSWI, registered (professional) soil scientist, CE, or similar.
