Job SummaryThe Aquatic Supervisor is a seasonal position oversees the daily aquatic operations of the SC Johnson Community Aquatic Center @ Pritchard Park assuring the safety of all aquatic participants in and around the pool area, maintaining a safe pool environment.
Salary:- Year 1: $21.95/hr.
- Year 2: $22.39/hr.
- Year 3: $22.84/hr.
- Year 4: $23.29/hr.
Key Responsibilities - Responsible for daily aquatic operations of the SC Johnson Community Aquatic Center.
- Responsible for the orientation, training, supervision and evaluation of all aquatic staff as assigned.
- Maintain and review records and evaluations for aquatic operations, staff and aquatic facilities.
- Be knowledgeable of EAP, act as a primary responder in case of injury, accident, or illness report injuries & complete required forms.
- Develop and implement routines, schedules, procedures for aquatic daily operations and assign aquatic staff duties.
- Assist with lifeguard schedule, including aquatic staff call-ins and gaps in schedule; evaluate current lifeguards and guard rotations, adjusting lifeguard rotations based on swimmers.
- Be part of lifeguard rotation, practicing preventative lifeguarding and maintaining constant surveillance of pool area.
- Responsible for reviewing timecards for accuracy and verifying corrections and updates.
- Inventory equipment and supplies, submit recommendations to Recreation Program Manager.
- Ensure quality performance of all aquatics staff, enforcing pool rules & policies.
- Review Aquatics master binder monthly; ensuring all documents are in place, including current certifications.
- While Lifeguarding, refrain from other duties, such as testing chemicals, storing equipment, etc. while actively guarding. Additional duties would be completed prior to or after actively guarding or during a shift rotation when you have a short break from actively guarding.
- Keep pool area clean and orderly, assist in monitoring locker rooms.
- Support and follow all policies & decisions, answer memberquestions about the aquatic site and its programs.
- Maintain all aquatic equipment by ensuring proper use and storage.
- Assist with the daily operations of the pump house; monitoring controllers; gages and other equipment trained on in this area, reporting any concerns to the Maintenance Team and Recreation Manager, filling and cleaning chlorine tanks; filter baskets.
- Test pool water temperature and chemical levels daily, reporting any concerns to Recreation Manager.
- Maintain a high level of customer service, which include, but not limited to customer issues, comments, complaints, and concerns. Customer Service includes, person to person; over the phone and direct them to the appropriate area if necessary.
- Immediately notify a supervisor of any broken equipment or unsafe aspects of the pool.
- Exhibit a professional attitude at all times, which includes wearing appropriate staff uniform.
- Assist with planning & facilitating lifeguard drills, meetings & in-service trainings, outlined by the Lifeguard Trainer.
- Assist with the supervision and instruction of aquatic programs, to include swim lessons, camps and trainings.
Supervision Received: Receives supervision from Recreation Program Manager.
Qualifications - Twenty one (21) years of age and must have high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Red Cross Waterpark Lifeguard Certification, including CPR-AED & First-Aid; Bloodbourne Pathogens.
- LGI & CPO Certification is preferred.
- Proficient in swimming and safety skills, with minimum of three (3) years as a lifeguard.
- Must demonstrate qualities of a leader and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly to an emergency.
Knowledge Skills & AbilitiesPhysical and Mental Requirements:- Must be mentally alert to dangerous situations in order to assure the safety of all swimmers.
- Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR-AED & First Aid effectively.
- Physical mobility to properly use aquatic equipment.
- Must be able to physically stand and sit for an extended period of time.
- Physically able to see, hear, and communicate clearly and be able to hear noises and distress signals in aquatic environment.
- Able to read, write and perform basic math to complete daily chemical logs.
- Swim with proficiency and endurance for possible rescues.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with members and staff.
Environmental Considerations:- Employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity, cold, and rain.
- Employee must operate and handle assigned equipment.
Safety and Facility Requirements:- Assure a safe and hazard free environment by inspecting and taking the necessary action to correct and safeguard against potential problems and/or accidents.
- Must comply with all safety policies and procedures now in effect or adopted in the future.
- Worker must be able to follow directions with safe follow through and exercises good judgement and safety awareness.
- Worker will use all required PPE.
- All unsafe conditions are to be reported to your supervisor immediately.

- early $50 sign-on bonus, if accepted by March 1st (awarded mid July)
- $50 bonus for returning staff (awarded mid July)
- $100 referral bonus for each new staff member referred and hired (awarded mid July)
- $200 end of season bonus for those averaging 20 hours for 10 weeks or $500 end of season bonus for those averaging 35 hours for 10 weeks.
- Will receive time and a half if scheduled to work on a holiday (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day).

Overtime Pay: - Time and one half regular rate of pay for all hours worked in excess of forty hours per week.
