Summary/ObjectiveProvide management and administrative support to the Urban Wildlife Biologist and the St. Louis Community Conservation Team.
Essential Job Duties - Serve as an active member of the St. Louis Community Conservation Team.
- Provide technical habitat management expertise to partners and other organizations.
- Administer community conservation cost share projects with partners and local communities.
- Provide care for habitats for grassland, woodland, forest, prairie plantings, etc...
- Perform wildlife inventories/surveys, tree and shrub plantings, prescribed fires, exotic species control, woody vegetation removal, and prairie reconstructions.
- Assist with Urban Acre Conservation Area management including monitoring area use, wildlife, and habitat management needs.
- Compile routine reports, prepare work plans, track accomplishments, etc.
- Assist with district budget and monitor expenditures, including bidding for goods and services and contract development.
- Maintain MDC owned or rented equipment.
- Inspect and maintain boundaries, signs, gates, facilities, and shops.
- Lead the planning of the St. Louis Region Annual Community Conservation Forum.

Education and Experience- Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Management, Biological Science, Zoology, or related field.
- Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Ability to operate ATVs and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret topographic and soil survey maps.
- Ability to keep focused on understanding, anticipating and responding to the needs of customers.
- Ability to define a problem, analyze relevant information, and develop solutions and plans to solve the problem.
- Ability to maintain focus and intensity, and remain optimistic and persistent even under adversity.

- Ability to work varying hours and shifts.
Work Environment- Significant portion of work is performed in varying field environments.
- Occasionally perform outdoors where hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions exist.
- Occasionally exposed to loud noises which may require the use of hearing protection.
Physical Abilities- Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
- Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
- Clarity of vision and three-dimensional vision.
- Regularly lift up to 5 pounds, correctly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
