Job Description:Our Jersey City, NJ, office is seeking a full time, temporary Water Resource Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside industry experts in a collaborative and flexible environment while advancing your technical, professional, and interpersonal skills.
As part of our water engineering team, you will contribute to a variety of multidisciplinary projects focused on dams and reservoirs, flood risk and resiliency, and general water infrastructure projects across the Northeast and nationwide. You will gain hands-on experience tackling complex engineering challenges, supported by a team that values mentorship and professional development.

Job Responsibilities:As a Water Resources Engineering Intern within Schnabel's Water Engineering Practice, you will:
- Contribute to a variety of water engineering and modeling tasks and gain exposure to coding and tool development in the fields of hydraulics and hydrology, focusing on Python-based solutions.
- Gain a foundational understanding of water resources engineering principle, including data management and analysis.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support project management activities, including developing work breakdown structures, updating Schedule, managing project budgets, preparing invoices, and tracking project progress.
- Develop the ability to make responsible and ethical decisions that effectively address and support our clients' challenges.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Domestic and international travel, when necessary.
Required Skills/Experience:- Actively enrolled in an ABET-accredited Water Resources, Civil Engineering, or related Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program, with anticipated graduation dates of 2025 and 2027 (Junior and Senior in college).
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Experience with commercial software such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-MetVue, or HEC-LifeSim Software, a plus.
- Prior internship experience in a consulting engineering firm or municipal work environment, a plus.
- Effective time management, written communication skills, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team, efficiently balance multiple concurrent tasks, responsibilities, and commitments.

The compensation range for this position is between $17.00 to $24.20 per hour. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
