OverviewSUMMARY OF POSITIONEnergy and Sustainability Specialist plans, organizes, coordinates, and implements energy and sustainability initiatives initially in two primary areas Energy Management and Sustainability/Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting through the engagement of internal and external stakeholders ranging from organizational/departmental leadership, facility employees, customers, and supply chain. This position systematically compiles data, reports KPIs, establishes and develops internal/external stakeholder reporting, develops internally focused communications/training.
This role will play a key role in advising/assisting the Operations Team on how to create and implement strategies to reduce costs and emissions in its operations while improving environmental performance. The position will also promote sustainability with a focus on energy use and procurement, renewable energy, building practices, operations, and modifying user behaviors as well as assisting in the evaluation of supply chain environmental performance.
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Energy Management
- Continue the development and implementation of Shurtape's Energy Management System
- Developing and maintaining partnerships with energy service providers and facility energy teams
- Supports facility energy team responsible for managing energy-using assets to achieve energy and cost savings; create internal policies and procedures for effective and efficient operations, set goals, and monitors progress.
- Analyze building utility bills to determine energy usage trends, quantify energy consumption and savings opportunities.
- Develop measurement and verification (M&V) methodologies.
- Conducts and oversees energy data analytics, data entry, and data visualizations pertaining to energy tracking and modeling tools.
- Coordinates energy audits to identify energy conservation measures.
- Educating and training staff on energy efficiency initiatives and best practices
- Tracks state and federal energy legislation and regulations.
Sustainability/Greenhouse Gas Reporting
- Maintain and update enterprise carbon accounting software and analysis.
- Maintain and update Corporate Greenhouse Gas Reporting Inventory in accordance with ISO 14064/GHG Protocol requirements.
- Guide improvement of methods and processes needed to streamline the collection, storage, and verification of footprint data.
- Report to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, via platforms (e.g., CDP, Eco Vadis, customer run platforms).
- Stay apprised with external guidance and industry best practices in boundaries for Scope 3.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Shurtape's Scope 3 data collection and reduction strategies.
- Support ongoing interface with Shurtape Sustainability Team to track achievement of efficiency and planning/road mapping future goals to include development of net-zero goal.

JOB REQUIREMENTS Education
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability or related field.
- Professional Certification in Energy Management, Sustainability or ISO 14064 certification courses
Skills
- Strong Computer skills in MS Word and Excel; with ability to create advanced spreadsheets.
- Database development and use of BI tools preferred
- Energy Management Systems/Tools
- Strong organization skills
- Strong project management skills
Abilities
- Sound working knowledge of SAP is strongly desired.
- Understanding of GHG regulations/reporting, ESG standards, and frameworks
- Proven strength in Leadership, Management and Relationship/Team building/support skills
- Working knowledge of CDP and/or Eco Vadis is strongly desired.
- Familiarity with California GHG and climate-related risk reporting requirement
- Familiarity with US EPA Energy Star Program
Experience
- 5 -7 years' experience in Energy Management, Sustainability, Environmental or related Scientific field is required.
- Strong working knowledge and preferred experience in consumer product's industry with direct responsibility for Energy Management and Sustainability practices
- Working Knowledge of Environmental Management Information Systems (EMIS)

- Ability to lift loads up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time in an office setting.
- Sufficient dexterity to use a computer at reasonable speeds.
- Ability to use PPE for periods of time spent on the shop floor.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThis is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to internal departments in a fast-changing environment. Many duties listed above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion.
