THE POSITION The Department of Environmental Protection is on the lookout for a qualified individual to take on the role of Air Planning Section Chief. This pivotal position plays a crucial role in shaping programs, regulations, and evaluations aimed at minimizing air pollution originating from both stationary and area sources, ensuring compliance with the federal and state mandates of the Commonwealth. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be responsible for executing Air Planning initiatives in alignment with the Clean Air Act. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will be responsible for achieving and upholding the National Ambient Air Quality Standards. You will oversee the technical staff within the stationary source section and coordinate projects that involve collaboration with other sections and divisions. Your duties will include assisting in the creation of inventories for stationary and area sources, working alongside technical staff and consultants to meet EPA reporting requirements and State Implementation Plan obligations, while also ensuring effective data reporting and quality assurance in partnership with the Division of Air Information. Additionally, you will monitor federal developments that may affect Pennsylvania's programs and provide management with strategic recommendations. You will act as the primary resource for management, advisory committees, and various external organizations, including associations and coalitions, while also engaging with federal counterparts at the EPA on matters related to stationary and area sources.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:- A bachelor's degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; and five years of professional environmental protection experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
