Job ResponsibilitiesHVAC/Energy Management Systems Technician IAre you experienced in the HVAC trade and enjoy working as a part of a team? The Department of Administration's Division of Facilities Management and Property Services is seeking an experienced HVAC/Energy Management Systems Technician Ito join our team. In this role, you will provide high-skilled building HVAC maintenance and repair services to all Department of Administration owned and contracted buildings. If you have strong leadership skills and an ability to oversee HVAC projects, this position could be for you!
Responsibilities of the HVAC/Energy Management Systems Technician I:- Complete assigned maintenance, repair, and renovation of HVAC tasks.
- Assist with maintenance, repair, and renovation tasks of other various trades using skills and knowledge of refrigeration, heat transfer, operation of compressors, air handlers, heat pump service, pneumatic systems, energy systems controls, threading and pipe fitting, mechanical cooling and boiler/chiller, electrical and plumbing.
- Use leadership skills to oversee HVAC projects.
- Complete all daily time sheets and record on all assigned tasks to ensure that accurate records are maintained on how time and materials are utilized.
- Recommend and request equipment, materials, supplies, and training needed to ensure that necessary resources are available to complete work tasks and to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and safety in completing assigned tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned to include disaster assistance and monitoring contractor work during or after hours in buildings, to ensure the success of Facilities Management, offers guidance promotes teamwork and cooperation and works to resolve challenges. May include monitoring contractor work during or after hours in buildings maintained by the Division.
Minimum and Additional Requirements - A high school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of higher-skilled commercial, industrial, or institutional experience in the installation, repair or maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration systems.
- Knowledge of boiler and chiller R&M, electricity, and plumbing directly related to HVAC/mechanical systems repairs and maintenance.
- Knowledge of refrigeration, heat transfer, operation of compressors, heat pump service, pneumatic systems, energy systems controls, mechanical cooling, PLC's/CFC.
Additional Requirements:- Knowledge of national and local HVAC regulations and code requirements.
- Knowledge of trade safety practices. Knowledge of techniques, methods, requirements, and practices used in the trade.
- Skill in making emergency repairs and adjustments to trade equipment.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn provided technology and smart phones.
- Ability to use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision.
- Ability to comprehend blueprints, plans, specifications, and equipment manufacturer's technical bulletins.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, plan and complete work.
- Ability to work with and assist other trade specialists as needed.
- Ability to work as a part of a team or independently as necessary.
- Must possess a valid Class "D" South Carolina Driver's license.
- Must possess an EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and stand for long periods of time; climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces; hot, hazardous, and noisy locations; and in adverse weather conditions.
- Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends.
- Position requires on-call shifts and call back.
