What we're looking for: Nexamp is seeking to hire an Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager (EH&S) to join their team. In this role, you will ensure Nexamp's environmental health and safety programs and processes, which are associated with a variety of field related activities, are effectively implemented and followed to minimize risk to people, our organization, and in full compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
In addition, you will ensure the regional construction safety specialists perform assigned tasks comprehensively and in a timely manner. These responsibilities include monthly project job-site safety inspections, on-site support for incident management, and oversight of high-risk operations such as crane lifts and blasting operations. The EHS Manager provides safety leadership, onsite coaching and capability development of Nexamp site supervisors, project managers and contractors, through positive engagement, teamwork, and continuous improvement messaging.
You will verify contractor-submitted onboarding and project related documentation meets expectations of Nexamp EH&S programs, including but not limited to training records, site-specific health and safety plans, high-risk operational permits, methods of procedure, incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
You will be hybrid out of Chicago, IL or Lawrence, MA and will report to the Director, EH&S.
What you'll do: - Manage regionally based team of EH&S construction specialists.
- Ensure regular, periodic site visits to assigned project construction sites
- Ensure specialists facilitate and foster partnerships with construction supervisors
- Ensure specialists' time and expenses are tracked on a by project basis
- Provide guidance and support for EH&S corrective action planning
- Ensure new contractors meet Nexamp EH&S standards.
- Ensure job-specific risk assessment, health and safety plans (HASPs) and EH&S inspections are conducted thoroughly and in a timely manner, adding value to the overall safety programs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental health and safety programs and initiatives that are aligned with company values, goals, and applicable regulations.
- Encourage and track incident reporting while cultivating a proactive and generative safety culture focused on leading indicators, and measured through positive key performance indicators.
- Conduct periodic construction job-site visits to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements, identify & share best practices, conduct spot checks, and provide 1:1 coaching.
- Serve as an occupational health and safety resource by providing guidance on best practices, emerging trends, direction for compliance assurance, and recommendations
What you'll bring:- Bachelor of Science in Safety and Occupational Health or equivalent work experience
- 3-5 years of full-time safety and occupational health experience in construction, renewable energy or comparable field experience.
- 1-2 years management experience of direct reports or assigned sub-contractors.
- OSHA Construction Standards: Working knowledge of federal health and safety regulations for construction (29 CFR 1926).
- Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP): Working knowledge of purpose, implementation, and maintenance of SWPPP requirements.
- Electrical Safety: Thorough knowledge of electrical safety standards and practices, including lockout/tagout procedures, grounding, and proper handling of electrical equipment to ensure a safe work environment and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., NFPA 70E).
- Building Collaborative Relationships: The ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.
