The Supply Chain Operation Sustainability Manager will support Newell Brands operational sustainability and resource conservation strategies for the Newell Brands Global Supply Chain Operations Team. This position will define global standards and best practices for sustainable operations and lead the execution of initiatives across all business segments and regions.
Key Responsibilities - Assure that operations standards and processes are in place in plants and DCs to collect qualitative and quantitative data to support mandatory disclosure of non-financial ESG data across all material topics and requirements in accordance with, but not limited to, CSRD, California, and SEC climate regulations, exclusive of scope 1 and 2 data.
- Facilitate a global supply chain community of practice to identify resource conservation projects and best practices including, but not limited to energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation, and waste diversion within Newell's manufacturing plants and distribution centers. Manage development of Newell's scope 3 footprint.
- Collaboratively work with internal and external teams to develop and implement resource optimization projects that support portfolio-wide energy, water, and waste standards.
- Serve as the operational and reporting sustainability subject matter expert providing guidance and prioritization of programs that align with Newell's sustainability targets and Carbon Neutral future.
- Lead Newell Corporate Resource Conservation Council.
- Gather and report on sustainability industry initiatives, trends, and regulations.
- Research best practices and sharing of regulatory updates that impact sustainability and environmental performance.
- Conduct assessments to benchmark Newell's sustainability programs against industry standards.
Qualifications - 5+ years of relevant professional experience in operational sustainability or similar role in the consumer hard goods industry or consulting firm with extensive experience in operational sustainability projects across complex supply chains in both internal manufacturing and external facilities.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental sciences, sustainability or related subject area, preferred.
- Passion, energy, and commitment to ESG, sustainability, and EHS.
- Thrives in a highly collaborative environment working with diverse culture, influencing internal and external partners.
- Demonstrated knowledge of GRI, SASB, CDP, TCFD reporting frameworks and emerging global sustainability regulations including California SB253/SB261, EU CSRD and SEC Climate rule.
- Experience preparing Sustainability reports including use of Workiva or equivalent a plus.
- Experience with evaluation and execution of on-site energy efficiency, compressed air, renewable energy, waste diversion and water conservation projects both in the US and internationally.
- Excellent grasp of sustainability concepts as well as emerging trends with ability to apply this knowledge to support sustainability projects.
- Familiarity with academic, government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) active in the sustainability arena.
- Proven ability to independently manage complex projects and brief senior leadership.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrates expertise in Microsoft Office suite applications.
- In-depth knowledge and experience using key performance indicator tracking tools for resource usage.
- Motivated, team player who is a true multi-tasker.
Travel RequirementsPosition will require up to 40% primarily domestic US travel with occasional international (Asia, LATAM, UK, and EU) travel.
