What You Will Be Doing:The purpose of this position is to minimize the frequency and severity of accidents, injuries, general liability, and property claims through the development, organization, administration, and maintenance of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Loss Control programs. The EHS Manager works with all departments on the development and implementation of EHS/DOT and Loss Prevention programs and reports to the Vice President of Machine Division Product Support.
Primary Responsibilities:- Oversight and development of the EHS/DOT and Loss Prevention programs for all divisions and departments of the company that comply with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DOT or other governmental regulations. Makes recommendations to the Executive Board, EHS committee(s) and Department Heads for resolution and corrective action related to vehicle, injury, general liability and property insurance claims.
- Prepares and conducts training programs related to MSHA, OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations, workers compensation practices, and other insurance programs.
- Oversees administration, development and modification of Incident Reporting Database. Files insurance claims with the insurance company and works with the adjusters to minimize loss exposure and speed resolution of all claims.
- Provides company-wide guidance regarding "best practices" for business security standards, solutions, and guidance to maintain a secure environment for the protection of personnel property and information.
- Conducts risk audits on all buildings, facilities and operations semi-annually to identify and minimize risk exposures.
- Initiates and develops policies, procedures and training material to ensure that EHS/DOT measures are implemented and maintained throughout YBC, based on governmental regulations, loss experience and external trends. Prepares and distributes safety committee minutes, various accident/injury analysis reports and summaries, and safety/health related articles and bulletins.
- Generates the MSHA Log, OSHA 300 Log/300A summaries, DOT Accident Log annually and EPA reports and various other reports for local, state, and federal government.
- Oversees administration of employee's training and testing for respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs, defensive driving classes and CPR/First Aid training. Checks on the use of all types of personal protective equipment, evaluates their effectiveness and suggests improvement where needed.
Additional Responsibilities:- Participate in required safety program, and work in a safe manner.
- Additional duties as assigned by manager.
Who We Are Looking For:To be successful in this position you should have at least 5 years of experience working in safety and environmental program management. You should be able to assess, initiate, and develop policies, procedures, and training material to ensure safety standards are met. The ability to give direction and work in a team environment is essential to this position as well.
Education/Experience:- Four-year college degree from an accredited institution.
- Alternatively 5+ year's industry experience with main focus on safety and environmental program management.
