Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for developing, administering, and implementing environmental programs in accordance with company and governmental requirements. Develops, recommends and implements modifications to environmental program processes and procedures. Develops programs to ensure compliance with required federal, state and local agencies. Ensures records and documents are prepared, maintained and submitted to appropriate agencies. Represents the company as the primary spokesperson with external regulators, auditors and government representatives. Provides leadership and guidance to less experienced personnel. This position involves the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Develops, administers, and implements environmental programs in accordance with company and governmental requirements.
- Monitors pollution prevention activities as well as compliance and auditing efforts. Leads studies and prepares environmental impact reports.
- Reviews and analyzes environmental documentation issued by the federal EPA, state and local regulatory agencies. Determines impact on company operations, and develops compliance strategies and requirements.
- Analyzes proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public and environmental impact. Makes recommendations to senior management on actions to be taken.
- Represents the company as the primary contact with federal, state and local regulators to resolve compliance issues. Establishes permit requirements and assists in EPA, state and local regulatory audits.
- Provides leadership and guidance to less experienced personnel.
- Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to maintain a productive and safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications- Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or a related technical field and five or more years of related experience. Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
- Must demonstrate a detailed and complete understanding of environmental engineering principles, concepts, theories, regulations and practices and have extensive skills including organizing, planning, scheduling and coordinating workloads to meet established deadline or milestones.
- A background in air permitting regulations and hazardous material management auditing is preferred.
- Must possess:

- excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report and present findings
- strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, senior management and outside representatives
- strong computer skills.
- The ability to work independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance is required.
