Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. This position will be dedicated to the identification, evaluation, development, and implementation of a thermal energy network (TEN) pilot(s) and other projects by leading highly collaborative efforts across a wide network of internal colleagues, external stakeholders, customers, and industry partners. Responsible for the inception of a thermal energy network distribution system to include an initial pilot project and ongoing growth strategy within the utility group. Identifies and recommends potential business partners and negotiates agreements and alternatives in support of the objectives above. Works with internal departments including Regulatory, Government Affairs, and Engineering to ensure projects meet the Company's objectives. Utilizes the information gained to help shape and establish the Company long-term objectives and strategies related to TENs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a proficient knowledge of energy and engineering concepts and principles at a level normally acquired through a four-year degree in economics, business, marketing, or engineering; and
Seven years of related business experience in the energy industry or economic development field; along with proficient knowledge of project identification, development, and management.

Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
Required to maintain a valid driver's license.
Requires travel within service territory.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A broad understanding of thermal energy network development and ongoing operations.
Related regulated utility industry experience.
Contract experience with emphasis on technical aspects of thermal energy networks or related underground piping system projects involving emerging carbon neutral technologies.
Experience with grant management and reporting and/or successful operation of state funded pilot or other programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify TENs pilot project opportunities and evaluate them for technical viability and long-term value. Obtain internal approvals for TENs pilot projects and oversee related grant application and management.
Build and lead cross functional teams to deliver on our networked geothermal projects. These teams will consist of engineers, customer facing groups, regulatory analysts, and construction managers among others.
Manage external relationships with industry consultants, engineering firms, and geothermal constructors.
Strategically grow our vendor base by sourcing additional external parties with capabilities to contribute to this line of business.
Develop and manage RFPs, with assistance from internal procurement groups, so that the Company is selecting the best industry partners to help deliver these projects.
Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
