The Natural Resources Specialist 1 (Seasonal) is an entry-level field worker that assists Natural Resources Division staff in day-to-day or project related natural resource management, i.e., maintenance and restoration, research and/or monitoring activities, in Cleveland Metroparks.
- College-level coursework in biology, ecology, environmental science, natural resources, or a related field
- Energy and enthusiasm for field work, prior field/outdoor work experience (including personal recreation or volunteer work) is encouraged
- Positive disposition and ability to work well and communicate with a diverse team
- Responsible attitude, work ethic, and initiative
Physically able to work long hours outdoors and tolerate the climate and conditions of natural areas typical of northeast Ohio (including heat, humidity, poison ivy, and biting/stinging insects) - Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe, efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment for oneself, co-workers, and the public
- Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required, must be prepared to work a flexible schedule
Work Schedule: Typically a Monday-Friday schedule, with occasional evening and weekend opportunities. Schedule is weather-dependent and may be highly variable, 20-40 hours per week.
