Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a
ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER with our
PHOENIX ENVIRONMENTAL department. The successful candidate is responsible for performing a variety of technical and administrative work to ensure that all legal and other compliance obligations related to the hazardous and non-hazardous waste management programs and permits are satisfied.

Responsibilities: - Ensure all legal and other compliance/permitting obligations associated with the Title V Air Permit, Class II Air Permits, Mercury Operating Permit, and Federal MACT are achieved.
- Ensure all legal and other compliance/permitting obligations associated with RCRA for LQG and SQG, including inspections, profiling and determinations, shipments, and manifesting.
- Communicate with regulatory agency personnel, site managers, corporate resources, legal counsel, and other interested stakeholders.
- Coordinate permitting activities associated with the air and waste management needs of the site, including review of application/modification designs and packages.
- Complete Toxic Release Inventory Reporting
- Preparation of Semi-Annual and Annual air compliance and emissions reports.
- Coordinate projects with contractors, adhere to budgets, and direct contractor work.
- Coordinate with company subject-matter experts on complex waste or air-related issues.
- Maintain systems and programs to ensure permit compliance including accompanying regulatory inspectors on periodic inspections of work areas on and off the mine site
- Lead and develop Environmental Engineers, Coordinators, and Technicians as assigned, by overseeing the maintenance, evaluation, and reporting of collected data to Barrick management and government agencies.
- Align work practices with NGM Health, Safety, and Environmental ISO 14001 and 45001 standards. Lead by example and promote the NGM Safety and Environmental programs and initiatives.
- Responsible for periodic after-hours on-call response to environmental incidents, as needed.
- This position requires walking over uneven, sloped, rocky, wet, or icy ground and the ability to lift 40 or more pounds consistently and safely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or other related field required
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of direct experience in environmental compliance, including regulatory agency interactions required
- Three (3) or more years in a mining environment preferred
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Comprehensive knowledge of Title V air permitting regulations required
- Experience with NESHAPs for Gold Mine Ore Processing and Production Area Source Category (7E) and the Nevada Mercury Control Program preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of RCRA regulations required
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required
- In-depth experience with Excel required
- Experience with database programs preferred
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills required
- Demonstrated ability to perform essential responsibilities of the position required
- Experience in other environmental media (water, waste management, lands etc.) preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of permitting processes relative to NDEP preferred
- Familiarity with ISO 14001:2015 preferred
- Familiarity with PI System Explorer preferred
