Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Project Engineer I/II to join the Site Based Solar projects team. The successful candidate will assist and support team members with assigned aspects of solar projects.

Responsibilities: - Assist project team in analyzing problems as assigned and help develop solutions to remediate
- Interface with operations staff and departments to obtain customer input and support of designs
- Interface with environmental department to ensure all permitting is in place to prevent delays to construction, commissioning, and operation of capital projects
- Learn and understand the capital allocation process and assist in assembling supporting documentation
- Learn and understand how to prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor engineering projects to ensure they stay within the constraints of time, cost, and scope
- Learn and understand how to develop proposals and cost estimates, including required equipment, materials, personnel, and other peripheral services
- Learn and understand how to develop resolutions to problems associated with a projects' design, engineering, and construction
- Support project execution with in-house design where appropriate
- Learn and understand how to perform quality control tasks against budgets, schedules, plans, and how to produce project status reports for distribution
- Learn and understand how to perform risk and consequences analysis for projects to help understand both risks as well as opportunities that may occur during each project phase
- Learn and understand how to formulate project parameters, and assist in monitoring progress to address constraints and issues
- Learn and understand how to communicate with members of the project team and collaborate with more senior engineers to adopt the most cost effective and efficient practices
- Learn and understand how to develop procurement specifications for equipment and work scopes for engineering, procurement, and construction bid packages
- Work collaboratively with supply chain department to procure project services and materials
- Learn and understand the importance of creating and/or updating standard operating procedures and asset management tactics, and how the process is used to provide training to operating personnel during commissioning and start-up
- Learn and understand how to set and measure a project's metrics to monitor performance, and contribute to daily, weekly, and monthly data reconciliation and analytics reporting
- Learn and understand how to prepare a post-project reports
- Ensure all project control procedures are in place and are implemented and compliant with company policy and standards.
- Follow the organization's HS&E policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions; to identify and mitigate risks, and to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others
- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching
- Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media
- Preform other duties as required
Qualifications: - Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a related field required
- Project planning/management exposure required
- Familiar with the concepts of project prioritization, project execution, project management, construction, commissioning, handover, and post-project activities required
- Knowledge of the seven project phases concept (Identify, Prepare, Appraise, Present, Implement, Monitor, and Evaluate), and become proficient at using the concepts for all projects preferred
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of DROM (Design for Reliability, Operability, and Maintainability) and OR (Operational Readiness) principles preferred
- Commitment to safety for self and others as well as embracing environmentally friendly work practices required
- Contractor and contract management experience preferred
- Proficient with MS Office products including Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and visualization software and scheduling software required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to interface with other professionals and team members required
- Familiar with project management and organizational skills including time management, leadership, and decision-making concepts preferred
- Experience with DROM (Design for Reliability, Operability, Maintainability) practices preferred
- Ability to work rotating shifts required
- Familiar with OR (Operational Readiness) practices and how to apply them preferred
- Familiar with Reliability Engineering and condition-based monitoring practices preferred
- Business Improvement, Asset Management, Enterprise Resource Planning experience preferred
- Ability to distinguish the difference between greenfield and brownfield projects preferred
- Familiarity with Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) initiatives preferred
- Familiar with applicable engineering and peripheral codes, policies, standards, and best practices preferred
