Position Title:Natural Resource Specialist 1 (Project Biologist)

Opportunity Awaits, Apply Today!As a Natural Resource Specialist 1 - Project Biologist in Clackamas, Oregon, you will conduct studies important to management of fisheries resources in the Columbia River Basin and Oregon in general. Duties include:
- Collect field data aboard boats to (1) assess population abundance of White Sturgeon in the lower Columbia River, and (2) evaluate the effects of Northern Pikeminnow and other piscivorous fishes on survival of juvenile salmon in the Columbia Basin.
- Oversee field crew sampling operations and data collection
- Maintain data files and databases
- Assist in data summaries, analyses, and annual report writing.
- Coordinate the purchase, maintenance, and repair of boats, vehicles, and sampling equipment
- Work in laboratory to identify macroinvertebrate and fish prey of piscivorous fishes.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORMinimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in Fisheries or Wildlife Science or a closely-related Bachelor's degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework;
-OR-Three years of biological experience performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program.
Desired Attributes - Experience operating power boats in a large river system, such as Columbia, Willamette, or Snake rivers.
- Experience training and leading field crews.
- Experience with fish capture techniques such as set lines, gillnets, or boat electrofishing.
- Experience identifying, handling, and tagging fishes.
- Experience collecting data accurate and complete data.

- The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%.
