Description The Assistant Biologist will support multi-disciplinary survey and monitoring teams in construction and restoration monitoring, vegetation mapping, sensitive species surveys, jurisdictional delineations and other field work for various types of projects, including high-voltage transmission line routing, power generation construction activities and water treatment facilities.
- Assist with field studies, including habitat assessments, aquatic studies and wildlife surveys.
- Assist in conducting ecological risk assessments and collecting project-related data for analysis in environmental and ecological impact projects.
- Assist in preparation of technical reports such as species surveys, mitigation and monitoring plans, biological assessments and impact statements.
- Assist with conducting habitat evaluations and presence/absence surveys to evaluate potential project impacts to sensitive habitats and special status species.
- Assist in conducting environmental and ecological compliance audits.
- Assist in the monitoring of mitigation sites including wildlife and vegetation studies.
- Provide assistance in utilizing GIS data for vegetation and wetland map production in accordance with standards and industry best practices.
- Assist in developing project permitting strategies to comply with state and federal laws and regulations such as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Endangered Species Act, and the Clean Water Act.
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Bachelor Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field from an accredited program required,
- Prior internship or experience related to biology or ecology preferred.
- Basic knowledge of the regulatory agencies that govern biological and ecological resources.
- Basic knowledge of wetland, stream, ecological risks and protected species assessments.
- Basic knowledge of methods used for collection and analysis of environmental data.
- Basic knowledge of field investigation techniques.
- Strong technical skills, statistical knowledge and attention to detail.
- Ability to use creativity and analytical skills to develop solutions for project challenges.
- Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
- Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
- Valid driver's license required.
Compensation $65,000.00-95,000.00 Annually
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
