Job SummaryThe Local Energy Policy Manager acts as a liaison between CenterPoint Energy and the staff of local units of government to support the development and achievement of community goals related to energy and equity. This includes engaging with stakeholders to discuss priorities, supporting the development of local policies and Company process improvements, and promoting the Company's programs that can support the community's goals. Extensively participates in policy and energy programs designs at the local level. Provides work direction to Company staff for relevant projects.
Essential Functions - Serves as primary point of contact for local energy and equity policy matters between the Company, local units of government staff, and community stakeholders.
- Engages external stakeholders to ensure positive relationships and support achievement of shared goals relating to energy and equity.
- Co-ordinates and works with internal stakeholders to identify, research, and implement changes to internal processes or programs that will support achievement of shared goals.
- Represents Company in policy discussions with the staff of local units of government and community stakeholders regarding matters related to energy and equity goals.
- Works collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to support implementation of Company commitments and bring projects to successful completion.
- Works closely with internal stakeholders to coordinate responses to key operation, policy, and regulatory issues.
- Regularly meets with external stakeholders to represent the Company, maintain relationships, and move projects forward.
- Prepares or assists with preparation of regulatory filings, reports, and data requests that support achievement of shared energy and equity goals.
- Attends workshops and conferences as relevant to identify trends, issues, or decisions which might affect shared goals among the Company, local units of government, and community stakeholders.
Education Description - Requires a Bachelor's degree.
Experience - Requires a minimum of seven (5) years of experience in policy, government relations, energy efficiency, utility operations, customer relations, or another related field.
