AQUATIC PEST CONTROL ASSISTANT PROGRAM MANAGER/(LIMITED-TERM) - DIVISION OF BOATING AND WATERWAYS / AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES BRANCH / STOCKTON
The reporting location for this position is AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES BRANCH in Stockton, CA. This position will work under the direction of ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM MANAGER I.
The Aquatic Pest Control Assistant Program Manager is a full supervisory level, responsible for assisting the Environmental Program Manager I and the Senior Environmental Scientist Supervisory, in the management of both floating and submersed aquatic vegetation. This position will oversee and manage five (5) Technicians and four (4) Specialists and two (2) Maintenance Aide (seasonal) and will be responsible for formulating procedures, policies and program alternatives relating to the aquatic invasive plant control field operations.
Prospective candidate must have knowledge and or experience of the following: General Botany especially on aquatic weeds; aquatic pest control methods; materials and equipment; boats; boating operation, and maintenance; California waterways; principles of water and boating safety; general chemistry and biology; principles of personnel management and supervision; a supervisor's responsibility for promoting equal opportunity in hiring and employee development and promotion, and for maintaining a work environment that is free of discrimination and harassment.
This position requires a Qualified Applicator License (QAL) or Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC), or Pest Control Adviser License (PCA). Please provide proof of eligibility with application.

This position is a 12-month Limited-Term position that may be extended and/or become permanent.
Occasional travel may be required. Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle

Working Conditions
Field office centered work in cubicle/office conditions. Supervision of treatment planning, coordination, training and performance management, as well as chemical management and application. In addition to the above, the position will direct and coordinate the goals of the interagency agreement between Fish and Wildlife and DBW to restore, enhance, or create aquatic habitat in the San Joaquin River watershed in and adjacent to Stanislaus, Merced and Fresno counties.
