BAE Systems Inc. has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Compliance Assurance Manager to support the company's commitment to ensure our employees are safe and be stewards of the environment where we operate. This individual will be responsible for the effective implementation of the new risk based SHE assurance program including scheduling, tactics and field activities associated with implementing risk assessment mechanisms such as SHE compliance reviews, management systems assessments, proactive hazard identification events (Bowtie, scenario-based assessments, and FMEA), data validation and assurance among other associated tasks.
Ideal candidate will have significant SHE Safety, Health compliance background (US focused) including auditing experience and be an effective communicator.
Specific job duties include:
- Risk assessment/compliance assurance activities such as coordinating and facilitating risk based SHE assessments; coordination of corrective action uploads, tracking and closure activities;
- Manage Inc SHE Dashboards and reporting requirements;
- Extensive interactions with site/business sector teams as well as external ISO registrars;
- Occasional participation in meetings with Inc legal counsel and HR teams;
- Management system reviews with extensive collaboration across the SHE sector staff;
- Successfully deploying the newly developed risk based management system aligned with related ISO standards;
- Continuously assessing data across the sectors to identify and focus on key risk areas;
- Interact, counsel, partner and communicate effectively at all organizational levels, including SHE and operational site/sector staff, external ISO registrars and occasionally Inc legal and business teams for report outs;
- Performing representative ESG validation activities to ensure data integrity and accuracy. Coordinate with sector/site teams to schedule and develop protocols based on established validation methods;
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and standardization.

Required Skills and Education- Technical expertise in both Safety Health and Environmental regulatory compliance in the US;
- Practical, proven knowledge of managing and performing a variety of risk based assessments including but not limited to: conventional SHE compliance assessments, Bowtie and Scenario based assessments and FMEA assessments among others;
- Experience developing and managing SHE management systems;
- Extensive functional knowledge of associated multimedia regulatory compliance expertise including, but not limited to OSHA, EPA and State delegated programs;
- Robust, practical knowledge of both ISO 14001:2015 and 45001:2018 management systems possessing credential of a lead ISO auditor or ability to attain within 6 months;
- Agile leadership style with the ability to adjust one's approach to fit the situation;
- Continuous improvement mindset: Must continuously assess data to inform focus of compliance assurance programs, management systems and other related risk assessment/mitigation efforts across Inc;
- Experience thriving in a matrix environment and delivering exceptional results;
- Experience as a trusted advisor providing guidance to business leaders focused on continuously improving the execution of objectives across programs and projects.
- Bachelor's Degree with 10 + years of experience;
Preferred Skills and Education- Master's Degree preferred;
- Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Professional Engineer, Certified Environmental Auditor or equivalent designations.
