SUMMARY: Baker is seeking a Renewables Design Engineer to join our Engineering Team. The position will oversee portfolios of projects with the Operations Project Management Team and help guide them through any challenges that arise during the design, permitting and construction phases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Manage/Review project design schedules using MS Project, MS Planner and Procore.
- Responsible for meeting deadlines.
- Communication with the Project Management team to ensure project deadlines are being met, and when not possible, alerting the team early on so that client expectations can be adjusted or a mitigation plan can be put into place.
- Assist in the project design process with internal and external engineering resources to provide construction ready drawings to the PM team.
- Manage and contract external engineering firms for design, etc. as needed.
- Management of outside design subcontractors to meet their deadlines.
- Review survey work including but not limited to geotechnical, underground detection, structural analysis, etc. as needed.
- Review and interpret zoning and permitting requirements and work with internal and external engineering to design a layout to meet these requirements.
- Assemble permitting submittal packages and coordinate AHJ submissions with PM team.
- Confirming that all required plans and documents needed for the AHJ plan checker are included in the submittal package.
- Support Operations team with utility interconnection and permitting application processes.
- Support Operations team to ensure timely delivery of equipment to site.
- Review vendor-supplied equipment shop drawings.
- Approve equipment to be manufactured and shipped to site.
- Work alongside the Operations team to ensure successful completion and energization of projects.
- Manage drawings, submittals and RFIs via Procore.
- Represent Baker at client & AHJ meetings as required.
- Review RFP documentation and ensure PV designs meet the design requirements and specifications.
- Assist with red-lines/as-builts and other required project documentation.
- Attend trade shows as necessary and participate in the evaluation of new solutions.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, & Project.
- CAD
- BlueBeam
- Helioscope
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred. Electrical Engineering a plus.
- Competency in Renewable engineering principles and design methodologies.
- Familiarity of structural and geotechnical engineering design practices related to C&I rooftop, canopy and ground mount projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Strong knowledge of the California Building Standards Code and local AHJ requirements.
- Strong knowledge of the development and construction of C&I PV and ESS projects.
- Experience specifying electrical equipment typical for C&I PV, ESS and EV systems.

The starting salary for this opportunity range is listed. Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility based on company and individual performance, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards.
