This position will serve as a member of the Subsurface Technical team within the OPC Reserve Group and will be located at Oxy's corporate office in Greenway Plaza or The Woodlands.
Qualifications:The following credentials are required:
- A minimum of 15 years of industry experience, including preparing or supporting reserves forecasting for SEC disclosure
- SME for integrating seismic, well log, core, production, and engineering data into a comprehensive interpretation of an oil/gas field, including building a geological model in Petrel
- Proficient user of computer software systems to include standard MS Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); Petrel geological modeling software; and data analytics software such as Spotfire
The following credentials are preferred:
- Experience with SEC Oil and Gas Reserves Regulations
- Proficient with use of incremental and scenario methods of reserves forecasting
- Experience with reserve cash-flows and international fiscal models for SEC disclosure
The candidate must be very analytical and detail oriented; have a concern for accuracy; be capable of working, leading and speaking in a team environment; possess servant leadership qualities with the ability to effectively guide clients to regulatory compliance; proven self-starter with the ability to lead the geoscience aspects of the reserve process with little guidance or oversight; and, possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills. The candidate must also be willing to travel approximately 5 - 15% of the time.
Responsibilities:- Apply knowledge of subsurface evaluation methods in review of corporate assets to ensure reserve/resource booking processes are properly followed, in accordance with recognized industry practice and according to corporate guidelines
- Work with Chiefs to ensure robustness of petrophysics, geophysics and geological interpretation and methods used for volumetrics supporting reserves, including facilitating the annual pre-approval process of each Business Unit's hydrocarbon in place
- Assist in preparing and delivering training to BU staff involved with reserve and resource estimates
- Assist in the annual updates of the Policy on Estimation of Reserves, the Reserve and Resource Reference Manual, the Recommended Practice posters, and in all communication from OPC Reserves, including the annual Process Meeting and the monthly Business Unit Reserve Coordinator meetings.
- Work with BU technical staff individually, or in small groups, on technical aspects of their reserve preparation as needed, which includes mentoring on geoscience and reserve topics as appropriate
- Ensure adequacy and completeness of documentation compiled for RMS reserves close, with specific responsibility for reservoir characterization, volumetrics of resource base, use of analogs, and development plan locations and reserve/resource categorization
- Create and present correspondence for management, business units, audit and others as needed
- Liaise with Exploration and Business Development to ensure new reserve/resource are added correctly and timely, and the volumes stay consistent through transfer to the development teams
Education:A BS or higher degree in Geoscience or related field is required.
