Job Title: Environmental Project Manager
Job Description: Works on preparation of proposals, coordinating fieldwork and billing with aid of project management. Assists with or prepares proposal to customers. Directs field work to meet project timelines. Interfaces with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and safety. May gather, interpret and analyze geologic data and/or records obtained from fieldwork to determine the risk of contamination by hazardous materials on client sites. Assists in the preparation of technical reports detailing environmental assessment activities and findings and presenting remediation options and other pertinent geological information.
What You'll Do:
• 50%: Responsible for organization of projects with regard to timely completions and detail. Coordinates activities of employees and subcontractors to ensure resources are used responsibly, safely and that project timelines are met within customer specifications.
• 10%: Pre-Project Work such as obtaining Permits & Licenses, Job setup, and preparing field files and office files for project startup.
• 10%: Writes quotes, bids or other proposals to customers or sub contractors. May occasionally work with potential customers or existing customers to bring knowledge of Seneca Companies capabilities to the market.
• 10%: Maintains Files and Records: Including electronic and paper records of customer, sales, asset, resource, or personnel data. May work or provide assistance with funds (and the paperwork required) going in and/or out. May enter information into business systems that aid in billing. May assist in preparing and modifying invoices, bills, receipts, etc for customer distribution.
• 10%: May collects soil, water and other field samples and performs site checks. Gathers collected data obtained from site specific sampling for the preparation of site specific reports. Records daily fieldwork and other activities for billing and administrative purposes. May provide consultation to upper managers, clients and customers on report findings.
• 10%: Perform other duties as assigned.
• Working Hazards: Works in a seated position for extended periods of time. Periodically works in an environment with potential exposure to fumes, dirt, noise, equipment movement dangers, vibrations, dangerous chemical/solvents, electrical shock, and inclement temperature extremes.
• Physical/Mental Exertion: Ability to perform heavy physical labor exerting up to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis and up to 50 pounds of force on a frequent basis performing such tasks as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and fingering.
What We're Looking For:
Education: Requires a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Hydrology, Ecology, Geology or related fields or a mixture of experience and education equal to a 4-year degree.
• Experience: 5 years of experience in the environmental or petroleum field.
• Licenses/Certifications: HAZWOPER 40 hour certification required upon hire. Requires valid driver's license. Requires a valid PG license.
• Technical Abilities: Basic knowledge of the principles of geology and understanding of remediation practices and the risk of underground contamination as described. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings and other prescribed instructions as described. Basic mathematical and record keeping skills. Ability to follow work instructions and prescribed specifications. Ability to operate various types of testing equipment as described and performs manual field sampling and installation work as specified.
• Autonomy/Direction: Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under intermittent supervision. Primary job functions periodically require exercising independent judgment and training/directing other employees.
