Title: Graduate Engineer - Water Resources

Summary: We currently have an opening on the North Texas Water Resources team for a Graduate Engineer. The selected candidate will work from either our Fort Worth, Dallas or McKinney offices. The Water Resources group performs various drainage and floodplain analyses, drainage design, and review services to municipal clients in and around the DFW metroplex. Additionally, our team works internally with LJA project managers to provide these same services in support of our land development, transportation, and planning and landscape architecture clients.
General Responsibilities:- Understands basic hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) principles and how to apply when utilizing hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) model applications
- Assist in conducting multiple H&H studies in support of Land Development and municipal Projects
- Proficient in reviewing project requirements to determine and prepare models for analysis
- Performs hydraulic calculations and provides direction to technical support or drafting personnel.
- Assignments require the investigation of a limited number of variables; supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems and possible solutions.
- Determines additional information that is needed from internal clients and coordinates directly with them to obtain the needed data.
- Makes basic decisions regarding conceptual alternative project solutions.
- Communicate effectively with all internal LJA personnel involved with the project
- Provide input to the group Project Manager on project scopes and budgets as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of presentation materials for clients.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with team members, Project Managers, Project Task Leads, and supervisor.
- Receives direction well and utilizes to work autonomously when executing assignments.
Required Education/Licenses:- Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering or related engineering field is required
- Master of Science, Civil Engineering or related engineering field a plus.
- Certified Engineer-in-Training is required
Required Experience:- Experience in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, detention design, FEMA Letters of Map Change and Floodplain Fill Mitigation Plans.
- Experience in HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HY-8, Flow Master
- Experience with GeoHECRAS, GeoHECHMS, CADD, and ArcGIS is a plus.
- Experience in advanced dynamic H&H modeling platforms, such as XPSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, ICPR4 (Stormwise), unsteady flow and/or 2D HEC-RAS modeling is a plus
- Experience utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in problem solving and/or enhancing workflow efficiency a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships
