About the Role Responsible for leading all facets of Environmental Health and Safety including policy creation, implementation of programs, interpretation, reporting of information, employee training, workers' compensation administration, OSHA compliance and safety of all workers and other responsibilities as needed. Manages and coordinates Safety Programs and provides leadership and execution of such programs. The candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining a culture of health and safety excellence across our North American facilities.
What You'll Do - Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of EHS programs across multiple manufacturing plants. Collaborate with plant managers and EHS team members to ensure consistent application of safety standards and practices.
- Evaluate effectiveness of existing EHS programs; determine the need for additional programs.
- Recommend preventive measures to reduce or eliminate industrial accidents and health hazards.
- Manage and maintain ISO 45001 and 14001 standards.
- Manage and maintain plant environmental requirements.
- Develop and implement additional programs as needed or dictated by plant and corporate management - to be in compliance with local, state and federal EHS requirements.
- Coordinate and manage the Safety Committees at each plant and make periodic safety and housekeeping inspections throughout all facilities.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements in safety procedures, risk mitigation, and emergency response planning. Implement best practices to enhance the overall safety performance of each manufacturing plant.
- Maintain and communicate EHS metrics as required, to facility and/or corporate Operations Management - Acting as the Group EHS contact with government EHS agencies and insurers.
- Lead and/or participate in the investigation of employee concerns, EHS Incidents, and Employee Observations/Near Misses, along with corrective action development, implementation, and follow-up.
- Ensure that OSHA and CCOHS requirements are met.
- Prepare monthly safety committee meeting agenda and coordinate monthly meetings.
- Design/Deliver safety trainings at all plants including fork truck training and Hazardous Material Communication
- Track all safety training and licenses to ensure compliance with expiration dates.
- Maintain and keep current training documentation.
- Design and maintain New Hire Safety Orientation program including providing the required training for newly hired teammates.
- Manage site Property Loss Prevention activities.
- Handle all Workers' Compensation matters including ensuring accident reporting procedures are followed at all facilities.
- Maintain OSHA 300 Log, complete annual reports, and post.
- Oversee safety self-audits and inspections.
- Encourage and create a high level of safety awareness.
- Work with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Perform any other responsibilities and assignments as needed.
Additional Expectations
- Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Kingspan Group Compliance Policy.
- Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and market demands.
- Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of the Compliance Management System.
- Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, or any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.
What You'll Bring - Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Environmental Health and Safety or related subject area
- Minimum of ten years of experience in EHS. A minimum of five years' experience in a leadership role.
- Previous EHS experience in a manufacturing facility.
- EHS certificates such as CSP, ASP, CHMM or similar helpful.
- Previous experience developing an EHS Program, including accident investigation, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, life safety, machine guarding, air permitting, wastewater, hazardous waste, property conservation, and workers' compensation.
Computer Skills:
- Must be highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Outlook.
Other Skills and Requirements:
- Must maintain current certifications for CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
- Excellent collaborator - demonstrates the ability to include multiple parties to perform to accomplish one objective.
- Strong platform skills for training workshops
- Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Regularly travel to manufacturing plants within the division to provide hands-on support, conduct site assessments, and engage with on-site EHS teams.
- Previous experience interacting with leadership and employees at all levels of the organization.
