What you will do:The Corporate Environmental Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining TCCA's environmental regulatory compliance program and providing corporate oversight of the ammonia process safety management program. This role will take a detail-oriented approach to regulatory compliance, technical skills to develop solutions to complex problems, and interpersonal skills to facilitate change in a cooperative environment.
This position is a hybrid role with at least one day a week at the Tillamook plant offices.Here's a day in the life:- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and enforce compliance with environmental laws and regulations. This includes understanding and interpreting relevant policies and ensuring the company's activities align. Monitor and interpret environmental regulations, including federal, state, and local laws. Stay updated on regulation changes and communicate them to relevant stakeholders to ensure the continued compliance of existing and future operations.
- Leadership: Supervises the wastewater treatment plant manager at the Tillamook facility. Assures compliance with TCCA's National Pollution Discharges Elimination System (NPDES) permit.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies. This includes documenting emissions, waste management, and other environmental data. Develop new permits as required.
- Investigative Duties: Investigate items related to the environmental compliance program, collect evidence, analyze samples, and report findings as required
- Program Development: Create and implement environmental programs within the organization.
- Audits: Conduct regular audits and assessments to evaluate the company's environmental practices. This involves examining processes, procedures, and facilities to identify areas for improvement.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: analyze potential environmental risks associated with the company's operations. Develop strategies to minimize these risks and ensure safe practices.
- Process Safety Management (PSM): Manage the Process Safety Management (PSM) programs at all TCCA facilities to standardize best practices across the organization. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, risk assessments, and emergency response plans. Training and Awareness: Raise awareness about environmental policies among employees and stakeholders. Provide training sessions to ensure everyone understands their roles in maintaining compliance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and legal departments, to integrate environmental compliance into business processes.
- Communication & Transparency: Tracks successes and communicates them to management and corporate communications for transmission to customer and consumer audiences.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, regulators, and the general public.
- Communicate effectively.
- Utilize a computer with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
- Act as a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.
- Work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Up to 10% travel between locations
- Demonstrate excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, or environmental preferred) or environmental sciences.
- 6 years experience in environmental compliance is required, dairy experience desired.
- 5 years people leadership experience.
