POSITION PURPOSE
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level Environmental Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will support environmental permitting and compliance projects and sustainability projects for a variety of industrial clients. You will work collaboratively with experienced consultants to collect and summarize data, conduct site visits, analyze environmental impacts, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
In this role, you will support PROtect's Environmental, Carbon, and Sustainability clients by identifying risk and assisting in developing layers of protection to mitigate that risk. This position will primarily support large industrial facilities such as refineries, ethanol plants, chemical plants, and/or oil & gas facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
• Perform site specific regulatory, consensus standard, or best management practice assessments.
• Assist clients in developing environmental policies and procedures coupled with implementation.
• Assist with the development and presentation of existing and new products, services, and publications specific to PROtect's environmental services.
• Develop, implement, and improve processes to maintain regulatory compliance for environmental permits and regulations for clients. This requires the ability to interpret complex technical, legal, and regulatory language.
• Collect information and maintain data records to track compliance parameters.
• Negotiate issues from a technical perspective with a broad spectrum of stakeholders (e.g., regulatory agencies, contractors, internal resources) with the support of senior environmental staff.
• Participate in agency inspections and compliance/enforcement activities.
• Participate in internal and external regulatory audits.
• Apply technical competencies and leadership skills to drive facility compliance assurance and problem resolution.
• Manage multiple activities with varying timelines and stakeholder engagement.
• Develop a broad range of technical skills and capabilities to support the Environmental, Carbon, and Sustainability team.
• Proactively develops additional business within client base. Identifies and analyzes customer needs, develops concepts and proposals, schedules activities and closes contracts.
SUBJECT EXPERTISE
Routine duties of this position will be in support of various regulatory programs such as the following:
• Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), RCRA, and TSCA regulatory programs.
• Carbon and Sustainability-related projects.
• State-specific regulatory support.
• Tier II reporting
• Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) reporting
• Annual Emission Inventory reporting
• GHG Reporting
• Site specific regulatory compliance assessment performance and reporting
• Environmental specific training presentation development, improvement, implementation
• Risk Management Plan (RMP) development and submission
• Spill Prevention, Countermeasure, and Control (SPCC) Plan and Facility Response Plan (FRP) development and modification
• Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) development and modification
• Above-ground Storage Tank (AST) permits and applications submission/modification
• Air permitting application development
• Technically proficient, adept at emission calculations, data analysis, control technologies, compliance auditing, permitting, and strategic regulatory analyses.
• Develop and maintain a high level of regulatory expertise. Monitors and assesses regulatory changes, communicates regulatory information to staff and clients.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in environmental, engineering, science, or industrial safety
Required Knowledge and Experience:
0-3 years professional level environmental experience with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office. Basic awareness of federal and state environmental regulations. Experience in or general knowledge of chemical/petrochemical/grain processing and industrial manufacturing processes is preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
Ability to work collaboratively with a team, to sit for long periods of time and perform sedentary computer work, to work from home/remote and stay focused and productive. Strong writing, strategic and interpersonal verbal communications skills. Ability to efficiently research regulations and policies. Self-starter with strong cognitive problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects at a time, self-motivated to accomplish goals with remote oversight, goal-oriented with excellent organization, planning and implementation, time-management, and quality control skills. Strong customer service abilities with the ability to understand the big picture while remaining detail oriented.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Site visits required - up to 25% travel required or as needed. Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive during adverse conditions across multiple states. May include work over weekends or travel on weekends. May require lifting of up to 25 pounds on occasion.

$60,000 - $80,000
