Job Title: Golf and Wilderness Properties Horticulturist
Pay Rate: $25.00 /hr

We are seeking new members to join our Horticulturist team, this position supervises the landscaping crew of approximately 5 staff and oversees activities including installation, design, care and maintenance for The Broadmoor Wilderness Properties, Seven Falls, vegetable greenhouse, Estate House, and golf courses.to assist in the installation and maintenance of our property's annual flowers, perennials, interior plants. The team also constructs and maintains several hundred flower pots and hanging baskets. Learn more about The Broadmoor here.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Select, train, motivate and evaluate assigned staff of approximately five gardeners; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures
- Plan, schedule, design, propagation, planting and maintenance of plants, shrubs and flowers.
- Direct, coordinate and review the work plan for assigned staff; assign work activities and projects; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Work under Hotel guidelines including safety, grooming guidelines, proper training and use of equipment and tools.
- Carry out effective communications with employees and hotel management
- Schedule and supervise outside contractors for container plantings, tree trimming, and pesticide applications
- Design flower beds and landscaping for the individual properties in theme with the Hotel landscape product
- Monitor health and determine fertility, irrigation, and pesticide programs for landscape plantings
- Maintain landscaping with best sustainable and environmental practices
- Work with and support other golf maintenance, Hotel and Wilderness Properties team members
- Apply fertilizers and pesticides safely and in proper practices including detailed record keeping
- Transport equipment and crew to each individual property
- Understanding of common landscape plant material including annuals, perennials, turf grasses, shrubs and trees
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Uphold and abide by all Broadmoor policies, procedures, and safety guidelines

What we are looking for:- Associates degree in Horticulture or equivalent work experience with expertise in maintaining annual flower beds/baskets, trees, shrubs, gardening. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the green industry preferred. Some greenhouse experience preferred. Become a certified licensed pesticide applicator within one year of hire date.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License required
- Any employee driving a Broadmoor vehicle must be 18 years or older
- Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic team member who works well with others
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Occasional heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs. with assistance) with a work environment that may be indoors and outdoors at times.
