POSITION SUMMARY The Solar Installation Technician is a critical member of the solar installation construction team to install and complete residential solar installation projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform onsite customer installations, repairs, and troubleshooting
- Manage spare parts and maintain inventory records
- Read blueprints and schematics to ensure accuracy of panels
- Choosing and configuring setup locations
- Assemble solar panels
- Configure the wiring and inspect all electrical parts
- Install and connect any batteries or other accessories
- Perform maintenance on all systems
- Ensure the safe installation of ladders on single and multilevel homes per OSHA regulations
- Maintain OSHA safety regulations while on roofs and on the ground to prevent injury; all while ensuring timely system installation
- Participate in training sessions on new product offerings, installation methodology, and safety
- Review inventory at the loading dock to ensure the assigned crew truck is stocked adequately
- Prepare job site for solar panel installation including racking, mechanical and structural mounts, electrical equipment, and tools as specified by project plan
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what maintenance is needed
- Apply weather sealing to roofing structure, building, or support mechanisms
- Perform project clean up at customer site and installation vehicle to ensure a clean and orderly job site and work environment
NECESSESARY SKILLS, BACKGROUND & COMPETENCIES- Professionally interact with customers while on construction sites
- Able to accurately read and follow blue prints
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of houses and buildings
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations regarding ladder safety, construction site safety, and injury prevention
- Able to identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Willingness to learn about new product lines and installation methodologies
