Job SummaryContinental Resources is seeking a highly experienced Advisor-Level New Ventures Geoscientist with deep expertise in geology, geophysics, petrophysics, and petroleum systems analysis to lead high-impact exploration strategies and new venture assessments. This senior-level role requires a proven history of technical excellence, leadership in prospect generation, and basin-scale evaluations in both conventional and unconventional reservoirs.
The successful candidate will serve as a technical thought leader, providing strategic insights and advanced geoscientific expertise to influence exploration investment decisions, portfolio management, and long-term growth strategies. They will be responsible for identifying, de-risking, and promoting new exploration opportunities, integrating multi-disciplinary datasets, and ensuring best-in-class technical execution across exploration projects.
As an Advisor, this role will have broad organizational influence, working closely with executive leadership, asset teams, and external stakeholders to shape Continental Resources' exploration strategy. Additionally, the Advisor will serve as a mentor and coach to senior and junior geoscientists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities- Lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of high-impact new venture opportunities, integrating geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and geochemical data to assess play fairways, petroleum systems, and prospect risk.
- Provide strategic leadership in exploration decision-making, guiding asset teams and senior management on new play opportunities, investment priorities, and portfolio expansion.
- Apply petroleum systems analysis to assess source rock potential, migration pathways, reservoir quality, and charge risk, integrating advanced geochemical, petrophysical, and core data into subsurface models.
- Drive regional to prospect-scale evaluations, utilizing seismic interpretation, well log analysis, reservoir modeling, and structural mapping to define high-value exploration opportunities.
- Champion the integration of core data and petrophysics into exploration workflows, ensuring rock properties, pore systems, and reservoir quality assessments are fully incorporated into play de-risking.
- Develop and refine regional play fairways, incorporating sequence stratigraphy, basin modeling, geomechanical analysis, and seismic inversion workflows to optimize hydrocarbon prospectivity.
- Advise on exploration well planning and execution, ensuring robust data acquisition, well placement, and post-drill assessments for play validation.
- Mentor and develop a team of geoscientists, providing technical guidance, training, and career development support to build organizational capabilities in exploration geoscience.
- Serve as a key technical expert in external engagements, representing Continental Resources at industry conferences, technical forums, and joint venture meetings.
- Stay at the forefront of industry advancements, incorporating new exploration technologies, emerging plays, and innovative workflows into Continental's exploration strategy.
- Lead cross-disciplinary project teams, driving collaboration between geology, geophysics, petrophysics, engineering, and land/commercial functions to deliver integrated exploration solutions.

Required Qualifications- Master's Degree or Doctorate Degree in Geoscience or Earth Sciences from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of exploration experience, with a strong focus on new ventures, basin-scale analysis, and petroleum systems modeling.
- Recognized thought leader in exploration geoscience, with a track record of successful play fairway mapping, prospect generation, and discovery success.
- Expertise in both conventional and unconventional reservoirs, including reservoir characterization, source-to-sink analysis, and fracture systems evaluation.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom, RokDoc, ArcGIS, Techlog, Geolog, GeoX).
- Experience in strategic exploration planning, well execution, and post-drill technical evaluation.
- Strong understanding of economic evaluation, business drivers, and portfolio risk management in exploration ventures.
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
