Description
Summary:Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Operations, the Manager EHS & Security provides strategic and operational leadership for the VMCs safety and security operations and emergency preparedness. The Manager is responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and direction of the VMCs safety, security, and emergency preparedness programs, and provides technical guidance, training, and inspection/risk analysis services to team members to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local agency's standards and regulations. Provides risk prevention in areas including hazardous materials exposure, accidents, fires, disaster planning, and other unsafe conditions. Reports findings to management and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and reporting requirements of federal and state regulations are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Safety:1. Provide EHS support 24 hours per day 7 days a week through onsite or phone communication.
2. Ensuring alignment and compliance of environmental health and safety policies with local, state and federal regulations.
3. Drive a safety culture by partnering with the leaders of the VMC (attend meetings and one-on-one support as needed), conducting orientation for new hires, providing training and safe practices training materials.
4. Develops emergency evacuation plans for the VMC and ensures its adherence and documentation.
5. Maintain environmental monthly records.
6. Manage all environmental permits, including required recordkeeping, coordination of control systems testing, submission of annual reports to regulatory agencies, and submission of modification and/or renewal petitions.
7. Manage Hazardous Waste and Universal Waste programs in accordance with regulatory standards.
8. Manage Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC).
9. Insure compliance with industrial water discharge permit requirements.
10. Promote resources reduction, reuse, and recycling programs.
11. Maintain Emergency Response Plans.
12. Review and approve production work instructions.
13. Create Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for production activities as needed.
14. Create and present training on OSHA required topics. Maintain training documentation as required.
15. Conduct and review incident investigations where warranted, maintain incident records and assist with investigations as necessary.
16. Support and provide guidance for the proper reporting of incidents and Incident/Accident Reports.
17. Perform incident trend analysis and provide a quarterly Safety Management Process (SMP) reports.
18. Ensure facilities compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA and applicable regulatory standards.
19. Maintain in-house safety training programs and update as needed.
20. Manage Injury and Illness Prevention Program (I2P2) for all facilities.
21. Provide Safety overview as required for events hosted by V P Holdings LLC. VMC management and ensure that VMC and OSHA safety standards are met by all vendors involved.
22. Oversee inspection of all fire systems and maintain records. Monitor vendor activities during their inspections and maintenance of all VMC fire protection systems.
23. Provide safety training to contractors as needed.
24. Conduct annual Fire and Tornado Drills and provide feedback to VMC leadership.
25. Manage work-related injuries and illnesses for all company employees as needed; make necessary arrangements for emergency, outpatient, and/or doctors services.
26. Coordinate medical treatment and assist employees with Workers' Compensation for work-related injuries and illnesses.
27. Administer return to work program, ensuring the prompt return to work for employees suffering work related injuries and illnesses. Monitor employees' progress and consult with physicians regarding treatment, in effort to return employees to pre-injury status. Help coordinate work assignments upon employees' return.
28. When advised of accommodations for a medical need; coordinate with Leadership/HR modified duty needs and ability to accommodate same abiding by physician's specific directives.
29. Maintains system of clinical and historical records showing all services rendered to employees and preparation of various reports as required. Includes maintenance of the OSHA 300 log and end of year OSHA 300-A Summary for annual posting during the period of February 1 to April 30.
30. Drug and alcohol screens including: post-accident, random, and for cause (e.g. post equipment-damage incident or reasonable suspicion).
31. Oversee Hearing Conservation Program to include: New employees - Arrange and work with Operations Manager to schedule baseline audiogram as applicable for their position; annual audio as per position/HCP/PIT requirements. Follow OHSA/Valpak policy requirements for follow-up of abnormal/problematic audiograms. Provide employees in HCP with annual education regarding hearing tests and proper hearing protection.
32. Oversee clean-up of Bio/Medical type spills as needed. Assure proper removal/disposal of sharps.
33. Maintain all in-plant emergency board information.
34. Arrange for and/or conduct employee worksite ergonomic assessments. Complete and/or review written report of findings including recommendations for improving conditions. Report to employee's management the correction required to meet recommended ergo need. Assist in ordering the proper assistive equipment and request Facilities intervention when needed.
35. Maintain Employee Medical and Surveillance records in an organized and secured environment that provides personal health information privacy.
36. Provide metrics monthly that include incident and OSHA recordable rates; annual OSHA Incidence Rates. Identify trends and offer solutions to improve rates.
Education/Experience:BS degree and ten years as safety professional in an industrial environment. Experience in city, state and federal OSHA and environmental regulations as well as regulatory standards (i.e. ANSI, NIOSH, NFPA, NEC) preferred. Relevant safety certification preferred. Minimum ten years of experience required in security, law enforcement, or a private sector security organization. Five years' progressive experience within a multi-location security leadership role. Lean manufacturing experience, automation, robotics required.

Physical Requirements:Frequent reaching, handling, fingering, talking and hearing.
