We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Air Quality Consultant to join our Baton Rouge team and to provide strategic leadership on air quality and environmental assessments for our diverse portfolio of clients.
Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing projects related to air permitting and compliance, including regulatory reviews and reporting. This role requires a deep understanding of air quality regulations (federal and state), air pollution control technologies, and environmental health standards. The Senior Consultant will provide technical expertise to clients, helping them manage their air quality program requirements, ensure compliance, and develop sustainable practices.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise, report preparation, and project management of air quality permitting and compliance projects that meet client expectations;
- Perform project management by effectively preparing cost proposals, establishing budget and invoicing responsibilities, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget; handling unforeseen cost overruns and purchase order change orders;
- Assist in business development by obtaining additional opportunities with existing clients and promoting business opportunities to potential new clients;
- Write, compile, and coordinate applications, reports, and correspondence using technical knowledge;
- Develop and maintain technical expertise on current and developing air quality regulatory and policy issues while providing technical support and project oversight to others within the Air Program;
- Mentor, provide guidance to, and train junior Air staff;
- Participate in trade organization (e.g. A&WMA) and agency (e.g. LDEQ, TCEQ) workgroups; and
- Interface with regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field;
- Minimum of ten years’ experience working as an environmental professional (industry and/or consulting) in the air quality field and must have a minimum of one year at project management level;
- Expertise in air permitting and compliance, including NSR (PSD/NNSR), Title V, and State-only permitting, and 40 CFR 52, 60, 61, 63, 70/71, and State regulations;
- Knowledge of industrial processes, air pollution emission estimation methods, air permitting and compliance for various manufacturing sectors (e.g. refining, chemical, Oil & Gas, power, etc.);
- Expertise in Louisiana air permitting procedures (Texas a plus) and emissions inventory systems;
- Strong Excel spreadsheet skills;
- Evaluation of emission rate calculations and control technologies;
- Effective communication skills (written and oral);
- Possess the interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain strong client relationships;
- Able to satisfy all Drug & Alcohol, Health & Safety, and Security requirements to access clients’ facilities; and
- Able to occasionally travel overnight for business.
