Position Specific Description
This position is in the Environmental Permitting Section of the Corporate Environmental Services Department supporting new renewable project development for NextEra Energy Resources and other NextEra Energy affiliates. The selected candidate will lead a team of environmental professionals supporting the environmental permitting of projects throughout the southeastern US. This position is based in NextEra's Juno Beach office. Remote candidates are not being considered. This position requires some travel.
The position provides the opportunity to use your environmental knowledge and skills to help evaluate and acquire permits for renewable energy projects. You will advise multidisciplinary teams on environmental site constraints and permitting strategies to facilitate development of a broad range of energy projects including wind and solar; energy storage such as batteries, hydrogen, and hydro; as well as transmission lines.
Primary responsibilities include managing a team of Environmental Specialist/Project Managers and working closely development teams to help search out and evaluate potential project sites as well as complete federal, state, and local environmental licensing and permitting throughout the southeastern US.
The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of experience managing environmental professionals. A qualified candidate must have experience evaluating critical environmental constraints for renewable projects as well as applying for and supporting permits from land use agencies at the county, state, and federal levels well-rounded understanding of associated environmental regulations such as Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Historic Preservation Act.
The successful candidate must maintain current knowledge of pertinent national and state-level environmental policies and regulations, can effectively interface with internal and external customers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders, and be able to assist in resolving complex environmental matters. He or she must help maintain good working relationships with local agency staff as well as Non-Governmental Organizations working in the vicinity.

• Obtains all required federal, state and local environmental licenses, permits and approvals for development projects
• Supports multiple projects with multifaceted environmental and regulatory issues and assists in comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews for potential acquisitions
• Maintains current knowledge of pertinent national and state level environmental policies and regulations
• Interfaces with internal and external customers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders, and be able to assist in resolving complex environmental matters
• Helps ensure compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations, as well as company policies
• Translates regulations and permit into actionable construction compliance tasks
• Provides specialized environmental expertise and environmental technical support
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
