Description of Work As the Public Landscape Gardener, you will: - Prune, weed, fertilize, mulch, provide minimal pest control and water management, and and work with staff of landscape services on specific tasks as required.
- Collaborate with faculty in designing and planning seasonal plant beds, diversify and improve the plant collection to accommodate horticulture classes and laboratories.
- Create and manage plant signage and educational materials in and for the gardens.
- Order and secure plants, supplies, and equipment as required.
- Updating and maintaining accurate maps and records of the gardens, gathering and managing data in various digital forms such as ArcGIS.
- Coordinating with faculty for scheduling and managing outreach activities utilizing the garden, and data collection and management.
- Coordinate student workers and outside volunteers such as Extension Master Gardeners Volunteers.
- Participate in professional enrichment opportunities.
This is a part-time (20 hours per week) temporary position.

Minimum Required Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalency plus four years of experience providing care for plants or similar experience.
OR - Associate degree in plant science, horticulture, agronomy, environmental science, or related field plus two years of experience providing care for plants or similar experience. Additional relevant education or experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- The position requires intermediate knowledge of horticulture and plant growth processes.
- Ability to operate a computer for data management.
- Ability to work with diverse people.
- The position requires work in outdoor environments in a variety of weather conditions and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Flexible scheduling will include some weekends as dictated by the program's needs.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet University driver's eligibility required.
