Position Summary

You'll be responsible for implementing detailed landscape plans with precision and care, ensuring that every plant and tree flourishes under your expert guidance.
What you'll do: - Plant, transplant, fertilize, and apply chemicals to flower beds and plant areas.
- Maintain and prune flowers, bushes, trees, and shrubs to enhance their health and appearance.
- Execute intricate landscape designs to create stunning outdoor environments.
- Propagate bedding plants and oversee greenhouse operations as needed.
- Provide guidance and on-the-job training to team members.
- Ensure cleanliness by picking up and disposing of litter.
- Assist in various maintenance tasks and operate vehicles and equipment as required.
- Uphold safety standards and environmental practices in all activities.
What You'll Bring: - At least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in horticulture methods, landscaping, and tree cultivation.
- Competency with hand and power tools used in landscaping.
- Ability to interpret and execute landscape plans effectively.
- Knowledge of fertilizer and pesticide applications.
- Physical strength to lift heavy objects and perform strenuous tasks.

Conditions of Employment
- A valid New Mexico driver's license will be required if a motor vehicle must be operated on the job.
- All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in horticulture, landscaping, or related field.
- Additional years of experience in landscape maintenance or design.
- Experience managing greenhouse operations.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and techniques.
- Knowledge of local plant species and their care requirements.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding and mentoring team members.
- Ability to operate specialized landscaping equipment effectively.
