Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a
Staff or Senior Staff Environmental Engineer or Scientist as part of our Clean Water Act Compliance practice in our
Columbus (Worthington), Ohio office. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations while solving our clients' water quality challenges related to Clean Water Act (CWA) compliance, such as the application of water quality standards through NPDES permits, Total Maximum Daily Loads and agricultural Best Management Practices (BMPs), and develop experience related to surface water quality sampling, data analysis, and reporting, while also learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Researching pending CWA-related regulatory and legislative changes and evaluating impacts to clients;
- Reviewing state and federal regulations and permits pertaining to surface water and evaluating implications for municipal, industrial, and agricultural clients;
- Managing, evaluating, and summarizing monitoring or other water quality data;
- In-depth data analysis using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Query and Microsoft Access
- Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, and proposals;
- Preparing and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties; and
- Water quality sampling.
Education and Licensure- Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources science (e.g., fisheries, biology, ecology etc.) or other closely related discipline. (required)
- Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering or natural resources science (e.g., fisheries, biology, ecology etc.). (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications- Ability to use writing and presentation skills to clearly convey complex concepts to a wide variety of audiences. (required)
- Ability to use deductive and inductive reasoning to evaluate written and oral information. (required)
- Ability to complete the U.S. EPA Water Quality Standards Academy (online course) and demonstrate comprehension of key concepts within three (3) months of hire. (required)
- at least 2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred)
- Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
- Experience with ArcView, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel (preferred)
- Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
- Ability to perform routine field work (up to 50% of the time) with some (approximately 10% of the time) overnight travel. (required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
