Looking for a Sustainability Consultant / Project ManagerThe Sustainability Consultant and PM is responsible for working with clients to achieve their high-performance design and sustainable project goals. This challenging and rewarding position includes leading project sustainability consulting activities, project management, technical calculations and reporting, energy analysis, interacting with the design team to ensure goals are being designed to meet the client's needs, task management, verifying green code requirements are being met, and generally supporting our senior staff in efforts related to energy and sustainability consulting. We are seeking a candidate who is team-oriented and passionate about sustainability, energy efficiency, health and wellness- and is excited to join our team to help our clients design and build high performing buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consults to clients on a range of sustainability criteria for green buildings (energy, water, materials, IAQ, )
- Manages sustainability consulting projects to meet the client's goals and internal project performance metrics
- Analyzes, reviews, and/or consults on project documentation of energy-related systems found in architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings and specifications
- Develops sustainability reports and deliverables per contract requirements
- Communicates effectively with clients and colleagues (in-person and electronic) to build relationships and deliver projects
- Conducts sustainability or energy charrettes to guide the client through design and construction
- Calculates and documents green building credits to submit for review
- Researches project sites to document green building certification projects
- Supports development marketing materials to illustrate services offered and case study projects
- Develops a professional rapport with colleagues and clients
- Continuously reviews code and policy updates/addendums to see if any are applicable to a current project
- Performs take-offs of design documents for pertinent energy performance and sustainability criteria
- Reviews project submittals to confirm compliance with project specifications
- Contributes to presentations on the green building certification process and/or credit requirements to educate clients and colleagues
- Participates in sustainability Charrettes to guide the client through design and construction
- Engages in local events (e.g., USGBC or CMAA events) to promote the company's services and presence in applicable markets and organizations
- Coordinates project work with team to complete deadlines on schedule
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field: engineering, architecture, building science, or related discipline of study
- Passion for sustainability and energy efficiency in the built environment
- 4+ years of sustainability and energy consulting experience
- LEED Accreditation
- Knowledge of WELL, Fitwell, Living Building Challenge
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) software
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices
- Understanding of the commercial design and construction process
- Time management skills
- Project management skills
- Technical writing skills
- Judgement and decision-making skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Self-motivation
- Up to 20% travel, depending on project demands / location
Preferred (but not required) qualifications
- Experience with energy modeling software simulation programs (e.g., TraneTrace, IES)
- Ability to perform energy consulting using industry software to assess code compliance and high-performance design
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, loads, and controls
- WELL Accreditation
