Position Summary:
The successful candidate must demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion in students, faculty, and staff.
Primary responsibility for the operation, repair, maintenance, and construction of all college facilities, grounds, equipment, and related systems. This includes ongoing planning, evaluation, and making recommendations for new construction, renovations, maintenance, and life cycle replacement of assets to provide a physical environment conducive to effective learning and attainment of the college's mission, vision, and values. Also responsible for leading and directing the operation, maintenance, and administration of the college's property and liability insurance, risk management, workers compensation, sustainability program, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including hazardous materials and safety. Responsible for providing strategic vision, leadership, and administrative oversight to the entire Facility and Maintenance Operations team. Responsible for the total annual facility and maintenance budget, including maintaining and leading the direction and planning for the capital outlay master plan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Partner and collaborate with V.P. of Business & Finance and Executive leadership to align departmental strategies, projects, and services with the College's overall strategic goals.
- Develop and recommend policies and guidelines designed to protect, enhance, and preserve the college's physical assets.
- Direct the development and implementation of plans, policies, and procedures for construction, renovation, and maintenance of multiple buildings and structures.
- Ensure that the college's property and physical plant are maintained in a clean, operationally sound, welcoming, and aesthetically pleasing manner.
- Optimize staffing decisions to improve productivity and manage all Facility and Plant Fund budgets.
- Negotiate and implement the Facilities Management Labor Agreement and maintain collaborative relationships with union leadership.
- Direct the operation and administration of the property and liability insurance and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Promote a culture of customer service excellence and accountability within the Facility Management Operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge and skills in a related field. Preferred majors: Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in leading teams comprised of vendors, contractors, and presenting to stakeholders.
- 3 - 7 years of progressively responsible experience in Facilities Management.
Additional Experiences Considered:
- Master's or Advanced Degree and/or Licensed Professional Architect or Engineer.
