Position: Energy Management System (EMS) Engineer II, III
Location: Indiana, Carmel, IN,
Job description:
Do you have a passion for electrical engineering and a desire to work on cutting-edge technology that ensures reliable electricity for 45 million people?
MISO is an independent non-profit organization responsible for the reliable and efficient operations of the wholesale electric grid across central North America. The electric utility industry is undergoing rapid evolution and MISO is at the center of ensuring delivery of the bedrock electric power that society needs now and into the future.
As an Operations Technology Engineer, you will be part of MISO's Operations Technology (OT) team, which is responsible for the brains of the electrical grid. This team provides engineering support for MISO's Energy Management System (EMS), SCADA, Synchrophasor, and other core reliability applications that monitor and control the bulk electric system. These tools collect and process over 200,000 data points to assess the health of the electrical grid and allow MISO Operations to be ready to respond to the unexpected like hurricanes and winter storms to achieve our mission of providing bulk electric power 24/7.
As an Operations Technology Engineer, you will play a vital role in:
Maintaining and enhancing MISO's EMS platform (GE E-Terra AEMS)
Solve novel and complex engineering issues to support the EMS platform
Developing code to streamline decision-making in the control room
Collaborating with operators and engineers to ensure grid reliability
Participating in strategic projects to keep MISO's EMS and reliability applications current and secure, adhering to NERC standards
Preparing for the evolving needs of the electric industry
Supporting the EMS Training and Simulation environment
In one year as an Operations Technology Engineer, you will know you were successful if you can have an understanding of how EMS and reliability tools come together to support the control room staff, participate in setting direction with MISO's vendors, and enhance MISO's reliability software suite.
We are looking for talented professionals who have:
