THE POSITION
We are hiring for a Director of Quality Engineering who reports to the Tempe Plant Manager and has a matrix reporting relationship with the Mechanical Operation Center Senior Director of Quality. You will be responsible for providing quality support to the Tempe site and lead a 65-person organization. Develop the strategic direction for the team and the initiatives that will continually improve our customer quality performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop strong growth plans for each team member
- Support and provide direction to a globally located team
- Lead and drive Quality Improvement Plan for site
- Establishment and maintenance of customer relationships, delivery of proactive communication to senior leadership
- Developing, validating, and approving ISC / Engineering Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) resulting from customer quality investigations
- Influence site quality actions on customer quality performance indicators: Voice of Customer (VOC) / Escapes / Disclosures
U.S. CITIZEN REQUIREMENTS
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or have asylum or refugee status in the U.S.
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's Degree
- 10+ years' experience in a Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations, or Science related role
WE VALUE
- Six Sigma Greenbelt certification, TPS, or other Lean manufacturing
- Working knowledge of aerospace quality practices including regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g. AS9100, FAA, EASA, and Government Regulations)
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Experience with project management and facilitation
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of leadership
- Experience within the aerospace industry and a variety of products, customers, and regulatory environments
- 5+ years of progressive leadership roles of increasing levels of responsibility
- Effective interpersonal skills to interface within and between culturally diverse organizations
- Proven problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret business performance and financial data, define actions, and implement solutions
- Excellent team-building skills, creating constructive and open environments for sharing data
