Senior Business Development Manager - Building Sustainability/Energy SolutionsSUMMARY: We are seeking a dynamic Senior Business Development Manager to spearhead growth in the sustainable building solutions sector, driving innovative strategies that help organizations enhance energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and comply with sustainability standards. This role requires a leader with expertise in sustainability and energy solutions, capable of expanding our market presence by offering tailored, high-impact solutions to a diverse client base. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to sell complex business-to-business services by effectively understanding client needs, positioning customized sustainability solutions, and building long-term relationships that drive organizational value and energy efficiency outcomes.
The Senior Business Development Manager will lead business development efforts across multiple verticals, including
Energy Audits & Assessments, Energy Management Solutions, Sustainability Consulting, Energy Retrofits, Building Automation Systems, Electrification Studies, Carbon Reduction Strategies, and Electrification Feasibility Assessments targeting sectors such as commercial real estate, industrial facilities, schools, and more. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Lead Sales for sustainability-driven asset management solutions including Energy Audits & Assessments, Energy Management Solutions, Sustainability Consulting, Energy Retrofits, Building Automation Systems, Electrification Studies, Carbon Reduction Strategies, and Electrification Feasibility Assessments and Green Building Certification Advisory with a focus on schools, commercial properties, and industrial facilities who are seeking to reduce their carbon footprint and drive energy efficiency.

- Leads the Sales Process for a broad range of services:
- Comprehensive energy audits that identify inefficiencies in HVAC systems, lighting, insulation, and more for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
- Consultancy and project management services to help clients achieve certifications like LEED, BREEAM, and ENERGY STAR.
- Energy Management Solutions, software platforms and monitoring tools for real-time energy consumption tracking to help building owners optimize usage and reduce costs.
- Advisory services for companies to develop sustainability strategies, reduce carbon footprints, and meet regulatory requirements.
- Retrofitting services to upgrade insulation, windows, HVAC systems, and lighting, making existing buildings more energy efficient.
- Building Automation Systems (BAS) that control HVAC, lighting, and security to maximize energy efficiency.
- Carbon Footprint Analysis & Reduction services to calculate and reduce clients' carbon footprints, including carbon offset programs and emissions tracking software.
- Analyze current accounts to identify opportunities for add-on services, with a focus on selling business-to-business services rather than products.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve objectives across targeted markets, including K-12 schools, Higher Education, Affordable Housing, and Federal, State, and Local Government sectors.
- Research and analyze key organizations to understand current and future market trends, identifying potential clients that align with BV's ideal client profile.
- Generate and qualify leads, setting up client meetings to propose tailored engagements with BV's services.
- Collaborate with the Executive Vice President of Sales to follow up on leads and close new business opportunities.
- Forecast and develop sales strategies for assigned territories, projecting expected sales volume, and setting sales objectives.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients through networking, attending industry events, and participating in key business functions.
- Penetrate and develop relationships with organizations or agencies managing asset portfolios, with a focus on prospecting, upselling, and closing new business.
- Conduct sales calls to understand client business strategies and organizational structures, positioning BV's services to meet their needs.
- Customize BV's offerings to fit the specific requirements of targeted clients, adjusting sales efforts accordingly.
- Strengthen BV's business by fostering deep, long-term relationships within client organizations, expanding service offerings over time.
- Respond to client Requests for Information, Quotations, and Proposals within established deadlines.
- Serve as the client's advocate within BV, identifying challenges, driving solutions, and ensuring successful project delivery.
- Represent BV at local and national industry conferences to increase brand visibility and drive new business.
- Cross-sell services from other BV business lines to expand client engagements.
- Maintain accurate and timely data in Salesforce, regularly updating management on activities and progress within assigned regions.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred (experience will be considered in lieu of degree).
- 5+ years of experience in business development or sales within the sustainability, energy management, or facility assessment sectors.
- Demonstrate an ability to sell business to business services.
- Proven track record of success in selling energy audits, energy advisory services, facility assessments, and energy management solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of energy efficiency, LEED certification processes, electrification, and carbon reduction strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and engage senior decision makers.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
- Familiarity with sustainability standards, regulations, and certifications (LEED, ENERGY STAR, BREEAM).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid driver's license required with no significant motor vehicle record (MVR) points/violations (clean driving record).
