Posting Details Position Information Job Title Electrician Nature of Work To perform as a skilled electrician all phases of electrical maintenance, construction repair and electronic maintenance. Receives direction from the Electrician Master and performs work in accordance with all applicable building codes, departmental policies, procedures and protocols. Work environments will consist of indoor, outdoor, independent work or as a part of a team. General supervision and oversight will be provided to employees in this classification. Examples of Work Performed Essential Duties: 1. Install conduits, power conductors, switches, receptacles, light fixtures, etc. 2. Maintain and repair electrical appliances, motors, fixtures, equipment, fire alarm systems, sound systems, etc. 3. Install, disconnect and repair motors, starters, controllers, etc. 4. Analyze and remedy electrical problems with the control circuits of air conditioning and heating systems 5. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and layouts and where necessary draw layouts of electrical circuits to be installed Secondary Duties: 1. Operate and maintain public address systems and equipment for campus special events and athletic events 2. Read and interpret city, state and federal electrical codes 3. Perform preventive maintenance work a. Exercise diagnostic programs b. Measure, record and calibrate field sensors and transducers c. Measure voltage and other electronic values d. Test and calibrate solid state integrated circuits 4. Implement energy conservation methods by engineering and designing monitoring and control subsystem additions to existing data gathering panels 5. May perform general maintenance on freight and passenger elevators in emergencies 6. May be asked to respond to emergencies on nights or weekends 7. Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent Two years' experience repairing and maintaining electrical systems or any combinations of skills, knowledge and abilities that meet these requirements. The physical requirements for this position may include, but are not necessarily limited to, climbing ladders, push/pull, bend/stoop, twist, reach, walk, sit, stand, and assist in safe lifting in access of 75 pounds. Ability to work in extreme indoor and outdoor work environment conditions is required.
