The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards across Ohio Gratings, Inc. This role supports the development and implementation of safety initiatives, fosters a culture of safety on the production floor, and ensures adherence to all federal, state, and local environmental regulations. The EHS Manager will lead safety inspections, training programs, and incident response while continually improving safety processes across all company locations.
Key Responsibilities:1. Regulatory Compliance & Audits:- Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other safety and environmental regulations, including air and water testing, waste management, and proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS laws.
2. Safety Leadership:- Promote a proactive safety culture by conducting daily safety walks, engaging with employees at all levels, and encouraging safe work practices.
- Serve as a safety role model by leading by example and providing on-site guidance for safety best practices.
3. Safety Program Management:- Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental health programs to meet company and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate and lead safety committees, collaborate on Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), and ensure thorough risk mitigation in all areas of the company.
4. Safety Training:- Manage comprehensive safety training programs, including mandatory OSHA training, emergency response training, and proper equipment handling.
- Ensure timely completion of required training for all employees, including new hires, contractors, and management.
5. Incident Management:- Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure all incidents are properly reported and recorded in accordance with OSHA requirements.
6. Environmental Health Oversight:- Oversee environmental health initiatives, including hazardous waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability practices.
- Manage and ensure compliance with environmental permits, including air and water quality testing.
7. Emergency Response & Preparedness:- Act as a first responder during emergency situations and ensure all emergency protocols are followed.
- Lead emergency response training and drills, ensuring preparedness across all teams.
8. Reporting & Recordkeeping:- Ensure all OSHA recordkeeping requirements are met and submit quarterly and annual safety reports in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of safety audits, incident investigations, and environmental health reports.
9. Collaboration & Engagement:- Work closely with management, HR, and production teams to align safety protocols with company goals.
- Engage with employees to promote active involvement in safety programs, hazard identification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
10. Inspections & Risk Management:- Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections across all facilities, identify potential hazards, and work with teams to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with HR to manage workers' compensation claims, ensuring proper follow-up and support for injured employees.
11. Continuous Improvement:- Identify potential risks and opportunities for improvement within the EHS program.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into daily operations and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OSHA certification) preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental health and safety management in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental laws.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage employees and management at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and EHS data management tools.
- Physical ability to lift up to 45 pounds, conduct inspections, and respond to emergencies.
- Willingness to travel to other facilities and work across shifts when needed.
Work Environment:This is an active, hands-on role requiring frequent interaction with employees in both office and production settings. The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will spend significant time on the production floor, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
