About the camp
Bear Creek Aquatic Camp is a traditional overnight summer camp owned and operated by Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana. Located south of Benton, Kentucky, this 183-acre camp has 2.3 miles of shoreline on beautiful Kentucky Lake. Bear Creek offers campers a variety of aquatic sports including sailing, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing, and swimming. Our program hosts Girl Scouts entering grades 4 through 12 with up to 70 campers per session. Programs are run by paid camp staff and Girl Scout volunteers.
About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Business and Packout Coordinator to assist our kitchen staff and Camp Director. Duties include managing requisitions for all foods to be "packed out" of the dining hall, running the Trading Post camp store, assist in tracking budgets and purchases. The Business and Packout Coordinator should be responsible and attentive to details. The ideal candidate will be genuinely invested in the care of our campers, staff, and volunteers and how to best serve them.

Compensation
The salary for the Business and Packout Coordinator (Bear Creek Aquatic Camp) position is $3,000 for the entire seasonal contract.
Staff training will be held May 27 - June 6, with additional training and set-up time for some staff from May 23 - May 25.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and pack food for non-dining hall meals like day-trip lunches, cookouts, or snacks.
• Assist the Camp Director and Assistant Director in running the Trading Post by opening & closing the cash register, and processing camper purchases.
• Communicate to provide clear, necessary instruction to participants of all ages and skill levels.
• Ensure and promote the sanitary integrity of the facility, equipment, and food products.
• Manage dish washing and sanitation procedures.
• Help keep an accurate inventory of food and cleaning supplies.
• Assist in tracking purchases and the camp budget.
• Constantly supervise campers to make sure their emotional and physical needs are met.
• Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
• Non-traditional work hours are expected. When campers are on site, the Business and Packout Coordinator is on call. Typically, the Business and Packout Coordinator has intermittent downtime throughout the day.
• This position frequently works with standard kitchen equipment including, but not limited to freezers, refrigerators, ovens, stove-tops, broilers, microwaves, blenders, mixers, slicers, food processors, commercial dishwashers, knives.
• The Trading Post is down one flight of stairs in an air-conditioned basement.
• The Business and Packout Coordinator may sleep near other staff or campers.
• The Business and Packout Coordinator will perform tasks while standing, bending, stooping, stretching, or walking for 60 minutes or more and may lift and carry 50 pounds.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
• Must be certified (or willing and prepared to become certified during staff training) in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Youth Mental Health First Aid.
• Must have or obtain certification in Safe-Serve Food Safety.
• Other outdoor, food, or program certifications are a plus.
• Lifeguard certification (or willing and prepared to become certified during staff training) is a plus.
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of professional food services preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of professional food preparation and dish washing.
SPECIFIC SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
• 18+ years of age.
• Meet state, federal, and ACA requirements for summer camp employment.
• Strong communication, written, and public speaking skills.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Adaptable and flexible within a fast-paced working environment.
• Must understand and comply with food safety and temperature standards.
• Possess mental and physical endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
• Provide exemplary customer service.
• Identify and respond to environmental and other hazards.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
POSITION COMPETENCIES
• Effectively address and resolve conflicts with individuals in a professional and respectful manner.
• Must complete courses and be certified in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, & AED, and Youth Mental Health First Aid prior to start of the first camp session.
• Complete a background check and provide other forms and details.
• Promote a culture of open communication and mutual respect.

• Report incidents of abuse or potential abuse involving campers to the appropriate authorities.
