ROLE OVERVIEW PivotEnergy is seeking an experienced, motivated, and self-directed Director of Technical & Financial Reporting to join our fast-growing accounting team, headquartered in Denver. This position supports both the company headquarters and regional offices. This full-time position will be primarily responsible for the management of external financial reporting as it relates to annual audits, tax returns, investor and lender reporting, and other financial reporting requirements. The Director of Technical & Financial Reporting oversees the accuracy and compliance of the company's financial reporting and accounting practices, particularly in relation to complex accounting standards and regulations. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the company's accounting policies, financial statements, internal control environment, and reporting requirements, with a focus on ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage the development and implementation of, and adherence to, accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Coordinate with the Controller on the implementation of any new software solutions for the accounting team and company. Prepare technical accounting memos and analyses as needed, including preparation and review of technical accounting items and new accounting standard implementations. Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards, industry developments, and financial regulations and assess their impact on the Company. Lead the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP-compliant external financial reports for auditors, investors, and lenders. Collaborate with the Accounting Director on monthly, quarterly, and annual close financial reporting requirements and process improvements. Develop and maintain consolidation procedures, methodologies, and templates. Manage inter-company accounts and eliminations. Assist the Controller with the corporate capitalization table management. Collaborate with the finance team to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of project accounting procedures for solar projects including some modeling (HLBV). Work closely with external auditors, preparing and providing necessary documentation and support to ensure a smooth and timely audit process in collaboration with the Accounting Director. Manage the Annual Tax Return and Tax Provision preparation in collaboration with the external tax preparer and external tax provision preparer, respectively. In collaboration with the Controller and Accounting Director, lead and mentor to foster a culture within the accounting team of continuous improvement and professional development. Ensure the team is adequately trained and stays current with industry best practices and financial reporting developments. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA Certification Required. Prior audit or accounting experience (renewable industry a plus). 8 years of progressive professional experience in an accounting and finance role. In-depth knowledge of US GAAP accounting matters and reporting requirements. Proven experience with financial statement and technical accounting memo preparation. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex accounting concepts to non-accounting colleagues. Strong proficiency in MS Excel, financial reporting software, and accounting ERP systems (proficiency in Sage Intacct is a plus). Must be detail-oriented with hands-on execution capability. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. PREFERRED COMPETENCIES Self-starter with strong self-motivation and a proven capacity to work in a fast-paced, highly fluid environment. Exemplary attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. $105,000 - $175,000 a year COMPENSATION & BENEFITS The base salary range for this position is $105,000 - $175,000 depending on relevant experience, along with eligibility for the company’s substantial bonus plan, with a target bonus of 30% of annual salary (prorated in first year based on start date).
