Job Description

The EHS Manager, Environmental Compliance conducts execution of proactive environmental programs for Advance Auto Parts operations in distribution centers, retail establishments and our corporate environments. The position includes design and implementation of environmental strategies which engage all associates to prevent, reduce, and/or avoid losses that impact Team Members , drivers, customers, third parties, and keep the organization complaint with all environmental requirements. This position will report to the Director of EHS and works closely with vendors, and sr. ehs/ap managers in the business. This position will act as the Environmental, Health, and Safety subject matter expert, and will work directly with Operations teams to deploy environmental programs. This position will not have direct reports and requires strong influence and coaching skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develop standard operating procedures for various environmental programs across the enterprise.
Develop, implement, manage, and measure various environmental programs/activities and compliance activities related to
- EPA
- DOT
- Various state, local Environmental rules and requirements
Design, implement, and coordinate regulatory compliance activities, training programs, and any additional information or materials required for such.
Develop and manage internal partner relationships relating to environmental programs; for example: supply chain, legal, transportation, asset protection, risk management, operations etc.
Support Emergency Action Plans (EAP) and Business Continuity Plans (BCP) for locations, especially related to emergency clean up.
Develop and maintain effective hazardous waste management strategies across the business.
Help maintain current HAZCOM program and provide store operations with information for dissemination.
Partner with other members of the EHS Leadership Team on cross functional projects that relate to Team Member, Operational, and Customer exposure.
Audit safety/health programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy. Work closely with internal staff and third-party providers during this process.

Extensive knowledge of federal, state, province, environmental regulations and procedures on a multi-state basis.
Documented history of managing a multi-state environmental or like programs.
Experience in a retail environment preferred
Excellent communication skills required,
Ability to multi task, prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines and multiple requests desired.
Strong analytical skills needed to analyze and interpret data trends.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Ability to present to, and train both small and large groups.
Self motivated, and attention to detail

The salary range for this position is $85K - $100K. The actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

College degree in environmental, other environmental type programs;
Minimum of three to five years of related professional experience required;
Prior distribution center or manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
